               PowderJect Pharmaceuticals plc ("PowderJect") 

                Resignation and appointment of directors

The Board of Directors of PowderJect wishes to announce the resignation as
directors of PowderJect of each of Dr Gerald Moller, Dr Paul Drayson, Staph
Bakali, Dr Clive Dix, Steven Harris, Charles Swingland, Professor Brian
Bellhouse, Dr Seth Berkley, Philip Carne, Larry Ellberger, Michel Greco and
Richard Spizzirri with effect from 8 July 2003. PowderJect is pleased to
announce the appointment of John Lambert and David Lawrence as executive
directors also with effect from 8 July 2003.

In connection with those appointments, there are no details that are required to
be disclosed by paragraphs 16.4(a) or 6.F.2(b) to (g) of the Listing Rules of
the UK Listing Authority, save that John Lambert is a current director of S.R-
Pharma plc, whose registered office is 22 Melton Street, London, NW1 2BW.

The Board changes are made as a result of the recent takeover offer for
PowderJect by Chiron UK-1 Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chiron
Corporation. Application has been made for the cancellation of PowderJect's
listing on the Official List of the UK Listing Authority and for the
cancellation of the admission to trading of PowderJect shares on the London
Stock Exchange's market for listed securities. It is anticipated that
cancellation of the listing and admission to trading will take effect on 5
August 2003.
