FTSE 100 Seen Opening Higher But Gains Could be Fragile

0636 GMT - The FTSE 100 is seen opening higher with spreadbetting firm IG expecting London's top tier stocks index to rise 73 points following a mixed session for Asian equities. "FTSE and European futures hint at a positive start despite escalating tensions in Ukraine after the fall of Lysychansk in the hands of Russians," Swissquote Bank analyst Ipek Ozkardeskaya writes. "So, gains are probably fragile," she says. Meanwhile, the U.S. stock market is closed for the Fourth of July holiday so trading volumes will be lower. (renae.dyer@wsj.com)
