Auburn's Jason Campbell Selected as a Cingular Wireless/ABC Sports
All-America Player of the Week Finalist ATLANTA, Oct. 17
/PRNewswire/ -- Auburn senior quarterback Jason Campbell, who
passed for a career-high 297 yards and three touchdowns in the
Tigers' 38- 20 win over Arkansas yesterday, has been selected as a
Cingular Wireless/ABC Sports All-America Player of the Week
finalist. Campbell completed 17 of 19 passes -- all in the first
three quarters -- to set the Auburn record for completion
percentage during a game in helping the No. 4-Tigers to their ninth
consecutive victory. Campbell is one of four candidates for the
All-America Player of the Week, who are selected by a panel of ABC
Sports and ESPN college football analysts, led by John Saunders.
The other finalists are: Nebraska quarterback Joe Dailey, who
passed for 342 yards and five touchdowns in the Cornhuskers' 59-27
rout over Baylor; USC wide receiver Dwayne Jarrett, who hauled in
five receptions for 139 yards and three touchdowns in the Trojans'
45-7 win against No. 15 Arizona State; and Michigan State
quarterback Drew Stanton, who passed for 308 yards and ran for
another 102 in the Spartans' 51-17 victory against No. 19
Minnesota. Who will be this week's winner is still undecided and
the final decision now rests in the hands of college football fans
nationwide. For the first time in college football history, fans
can now make the call on who they think deserves to be the
All-America Player of the Week with the power and ease of wireless
