                      BERGESEN IS SELLING TWO TANKERS

Bergesen has entered into an agreement with a consortium of partners of Tankers
International led by Frontline Ltd. to sell the tankers Berge Ichiban and Berge
Tokyo. The tankers are of 296.000 dwt. Buyer will take delivery of the vessels
in July/August 2001.

Both of the two sold vessels are employed on timecharter contracts, and the
sales are subject to the charterers' approval.

By this sale, Bergesen has sold altogether seven of a total of eight vessels
purchased from the Hitachi-yard in Japan in year 2000.

The sales price is USD 78 million per vessel, reflecting the vessels'
timecharter contracts.

Bergesen will book a profit on the sale of about USD 28 million.

Bergesen will during its ownership period for the two tankers have had a
combined operating result of about USD 27 million.
