GREG FLEMING AND DOW KIM APPOINTED
EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENTS OF MERRILL LYNCH
NEW YORK, October 27 - Merrill Lynch & Co. (NYSE: MER) announced
today that Greg Fleming and Dow Kim have been appointed executive vice
presidents. The company's board of directors elected Mr. Fleming and Mr. Kim to
these positions at its regular meeting today.
Mr. Fleming and Mr. Kim will continue to serve as presidents of the
company's Global Markets and Investment Banking group (GMI), positions they
assumed in August 2003.
Stan O'Neal, chairman and chief executive officer of Merrill Lynch,
said, "These appointments reflect the substantial contributions that Greg and
Dow have been making to Merrill Lynch as leaders of one of our key business
groups. Both of them have brought fresh energy and ideas and a relentless
client-focus to Merrill's institutional businesses. I am delighted for them and

Mr. Fleming joined Merrill Lynch's investment banking group in 1992,
rising through a succession of positions to co-head of the financial
institutions group. In January of 2003, he was appointed chief operating officer
of Global Investment Banking. Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, he was a principal
at Booz, Allen & Hamilton, the management consulting firm. Mr. Fleming, a native
of Hopewell Junction, N.Y., earned a juris doctor degree from Yale Law School in
1988 and graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in economics from
Colgate University in 1985.
Mr. Kim has extensive experience working in the debt markets for 18
years. He joined Merrill Lynch in 1994 and has held a succession of management
positions, including head of global debt markets, head of global debt
derivatives sales and trading, head of Japan debt markets, and head of Japan
debt and equity derivatives. Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, he worked for
Chemical Bank and Manufacturers Hanover where he held positions in foreign
exchange, derivatives and commercial banking. Mr. Kim is a native of Seoul,
Republic of South Korea. He received a bachelor's degree in accounting and
finance in 1984 and an MBA in 1990 from the Wharton School.
