                       Appointment of Operations Director


LONDON: 19 May 2005: Trans-Siberian Gold plc ("the Company" or "TSG") (TSG.L) is
pleased to announce the appointment of Richard (Dick) Watts as Operations
Director. He will take up his appointment in June 2005 and he will join the
Board of TSG at that time.



Mr Watts will have executive responsibility for the operational and technical
activities of the Company. The Managing Directors of TSG's operating
subsidiaries in Russia, and the head of the Moscow-based technical team, will
report to Mr Watts on operational matters and to Mrs Julia Pekareva, General
director of TSGM, the Company's Russian management company, on administrative
matters. Both Mr Watts and Mrs Pekareva will report to Jocelyn Waller,
Trans-Siberian's Managing Director.



Mr Watts will be based in the Company's headquarters in Toft, Cambridge,
although it is envisaged that he will spend the majority of his time in Russia
between Moscow and the Asacha and Veduga project sites in Kamchatka and
Krasnoyarsk.



Mr Watts (60) is a mining engineer, with considerable operating and project
experience.  Most recently he was General Manager of Amantaytau Gold Fields in
Uzbekistan and, previously, he was Principal Mining Engineer at SRK Consulting
for 7 years.  Earlier in his career he spent 16 years in South Africa, latterly
in Anglo American's coal division, where he was Mine Manager of a number of
coalmines.



Jocelyn Waller, Trans-Siberian's Managing Director said today: "We are delighted
that Dick Watts is joining our management team.  His wide technical and
operational experience will add greatly to our capability and ensure that we
have an effective and integrated effort between the UK and the Russian teams in
Moscow, Kamchatka and Krasnoyarsk. Our immediate top priority is to bring the
Asacha mine into production on schedule and within budget. I am sure that his
experience and leadership will help to make that happen"
