DAMAGES CASE AGAINST ELECTRONIC DATA PROCESSING PLC ("EDP") SUBSIDIARY
DISMISSED


EDP is pleased to announce that the action brought against its subsidiary, BML
(Office Computers) Limited ("BML"), by a former customer, Winther Browne & Co.
Limited ("Winther Browne"), was dismissed when Judgement was handed down on
Wednesday, 1 March 2000 in the High Court.

The claim, originally for damages of approximately #1.2million, was said to
have resulted from alleged defects in BML's standard packaged software,
CHARISMA.  The Judgement rejected Winther Browne's claim against BML as
misconceived and without merit.  BML established that its CHARISMA package
worked soundly and performed as BML claimed it would.

Having brought the claim to trial, Winther Browne now face a legal costs
liability in excess of the sum of #1.2million.

The system supplied by BML in 1996 cost approximately #67,000, of which the
standard packaged software, CHARISMA, cost approximately #20,000.

In welcoming the Judgement, EDP Group Chief Executive, Richard Jowitt, said
"We are very pleased with this highly reasoned Judgement which will have far
reaching effects in the software industry generally.  All that remains is the
collection of our substantial costs in which we shall be extremely active".
