The ZK execution layer proposes new hyper-scaling opcode to “make Doge STRONK!”

Dogecoin to the moon!

But before any space flights for the world’s foremost dog-themed coin, a new proposal was released today for a ZK operation code – OP_CHECKGROTH16VERIFY – which enables to be built on the Dogecoin Network a wide variety of applications that include DeFi, NTFs and on-chain DEXs.

Spearheaded by the team behind QED Protocol, this effort to grow the world’s foremost memecoin network also includes a fully featured ZK rollup that demonstrates how the opcode can scale Dogecoin to match the performance of Solana and other high-throughput blockchains. Already, in addition to notable cryptographers, this proposed opcode is being discussed with the Dogecoin ecosystem’s largest mining pools.

In a statement, QED’s founder, Carter Feldman, said that ZK proofs are a perfect match for a chain like Dogecoin, enabling the verification of a million transactions via a proof that is far smaller than a one-sentence word document. In short, this opcode means that Dogecoin can scale without requiring any increase to the block size or other changes that make it harder to run a node on the network.

“A brilliant aspect of Dogecoin is the mindshare it has garnered around the world that now manifests in the form of a huge community of dedicated holders – and of course the excellent memes and dogs,” said Feldman. “With the introduction of this opcode and the continued hard work of the amazing Dogecoin core developers, the Dogecoin Network will effectively be the first PoW secured chain at feature parity with blockchains like Ethereum and with the scalability of Solana. Dogecoin is on the cusp.”

Feldman also noted that the QED team is in talks currently with Dogecoin mining pools over the opcode, adding that the ultimate goal is to “make Doge STRONK,”

“The QED team is ecstatic about the support we’ve received from the Dogecoin community, and we are committed to growing the Dogecoin open-source ecosystem and helping builders continue to expand the Doge army,” said Feldman. “We will do anything we can to cultivate Dogecoin’s untapped potential, and we are proud to be a part of this movement. ”

About QED

QED is Bitcoin's native execution layer, designed to address the challenges of Web3 development. With its horizontally scalable architecture, QED sidesteps entirely the traditional tradeoffs with security and scalability by using its breakthrough architecture that utilizes fast-recursive zero-knowledge proofs and a first-of-its-kind PARTH state model which combine to enable hyper-scalable Web3 applications such as orderbook exchanges, as well as fully trustless Web2-scale applications and games.
