(NASDAQ:TASRE), a market leader in advanced electronic control devices released the following News Alert: According to news reports from The Baraboo News Republic (Wisconsin), Police used a TASER to wrestle a butcher knife away from a 19 year-old suicidal man, who eventually thanked the officers, saying he intended to kill himself and would have without the use of the TASER. Sergeants Duane Pixler and Keith Klafke arrived at the Silver Lake Apartments after midnight on Sunday, to find the Coloma man, whose name is not being released, crouched in a hallway corner with a knife to his wrist. He refused to drop the knife despite attempts by the officers and the man's friend to convince him otherwise. The man grew increasingly agitated, as he plunged the knife into the wall behind him, and began running the knife over his wrist. According to Police Chief Ken Manthey, the man warned the officers to stay back, but never threatened them. Officer Klafke then fired his TASER at the man, and Pixler was able to wrestle the butcher knife from his grasp. Police took the man into custody, and had him examined at the Divine Savior Hospital before taking him to a mental health facility in Madison. "The TASER's been a good tool for handling situations like this one," Chief Manthey said. "We're just glad this man is going to get the help that he needs, and that no one, including my officers, got hurt."
