BEA - BERGESEN ORDERS A 59.200 CBM GAS CARRIER

Bergesen has exercised an option to order a fully refrigerated LPG/Ammonia
carrier of 59.200 cbm at the Japanese yard Kawasaki Heavy Industries Limited.
The vessel will from delivery be employed in Bergesen's LGC-pool. The vessel
shall be delivered in fourth quarter 2003. The contract price is about USD 57
million.

Bergesen acquired the option to order this vessel when the company ordered a
similar vessel in February 2001. The first vessel shall be delivered in third
quarter 2003.

In connection with the contracting of the second vessel, Bergesen has obtained a
new option, to contract a third vessel, for delivery in 2004.

The contract will contribute to a further renewal of Bergesen's LGC-fleet,
currently consisting of 13 vessels. In addition to Bergesen's own vessels, 6
vessels owned by others are participating in Bergesen's LGC-pool.

Bergesen's pool-partner, Solvang ASA, has exercised a similar option, whereby
altogether four LGC-vessels have been ordered by the two companies at Kawasaki,
for delivery in 2003.
