Engie SA said Thursday that it has signed contracts with Amazon.com Inc. to provide 650 megawatts of renewable energy to the global technology company.

The French utility company said the energy provided will be produced by wind and solar farms in the U.S., France and Italy.

Engie's U.S. energy sources, which are being built in Delaware, Kansas, North Carolina, Ohio and Virginia, will be operational "by 2021 through 2022," it said.

Amazon's European bases will purchase renewable energy from two solar facilities in southern Italy and one in southern France, Engie said.

Engie didn't disclose the financial terms of the agreement.
