Sybase Senior Executive Marty Beard Elected to Board of Directors for CTIA-The Wireless Association®

Sybase, Inc. (NYSE:SY), an industry leader in enterprise and
mobile software, today announced that Marty Beard, president of its
mobile services business, has been elected to the Board of
Directors of CTIA-The Wireless Association®.
“I am pleased to welcome Marty and look forward to working with
him and the rest of the board of directors as we continue to
advocate on behalf of the wireless industry and our consumers,”
said Steve Largent, CTIA-The Wireless Association president and
CEO.
Beard has served as president of Sybase 365, a subsidiary of
Sybase, since November 2006. Under his leadership, Sybase 365 has
become the global leader in mobile messaging and mobile commerce
services for mobile operators, financial institutions and
enterprises.
“I am privileged to serve as a member of the CTIA Board of
Directors,” said Beard. “As a long-time innovator and key player in
the mobile industry, both in the United States and globally, Sybase
will continue to help drive initiatives that promote and grow the
mobility ecosystem, develop standards policy, and ensure consumer
protection.”
Prior to his current role at Sybase, Marty served as senior vice
president, Corporate Development and Marketing from February 2003
to November 2006, and as vice president, Corporate Development from
August 2000. He helped drive Sybase's Unwired Enterprise strategy
and developed several industry-leading partnerships that helped
Sybase expand its footprint into mobility and reinvent its position
in the technology marketplace.
Marty Beard has been elected to serve as the “Other Supplier”
representative and his term is effective immediately and until
December 31, 2010.
