Riverbed Technology (NASDAQ: RVBD), the IT performance company, today announced its participation at the Cloud Connect Conference taking place March 7-12, 2011, at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA. The Cloud Connect Conference helps business technology executives, IT professionals and developers better understand the transformation and promises of cloud computing. During the conference, at TechWeb's Cloud Performance Summit, Riverbed® technical leader Steve Riley will share tools and techniques for cloud performance optimization for globally connected enterprises, as well as thoughts on how to obtain the appropriate service level agreement (SLA) in the cloud for the enterprise.

More than 9,200 organizations worldwide, across a wide range of markets, depend on Riverbed to understand, optimize and consolidate their IT infrastructure. Riverbed delivers hardware, software and virtualized solutions that overcome performance issues caused by distance, distributed computing, and ever increasing amounts of data. Virtualization, consolidation and cloud computing promise huge cost savings and improved efficiencies, but as users move farther from their data, slow applications and file transfers can stall these strategic initiatives. Riverbed delivers to the remote office and mobile workers the same "local" performance, no matter where the private data center or public cloud may be. Riverbed continues building on its success in the wide area network (WAN) optimization and network application performance visibility markets with new and innovative solutions for access to applications and data deployed in the public cloud and accelerating cloud storage.

Riverbed recently announced two new products for both applications and storage in public cloud environments. Riverbed Cloud Steelhead™ accelerates the process of migrating data and applications to the public cloud, and accelerates access to data and applications from anywhere. Additionally, the Riverbed Whitewater™ appliance provides organizations with a fast, secure and cost-efficient method to seamlessly integrate cloud storage into their existing backup environment and disaster recovery strategies. With these new solutions, Riverbed helps deliver flexible, accelerated performance without requiring IT organizations to make changes to their current infrastructure.

To gain insight on determining the best approach for optimizing performance in public, private and hybrid cloud environments, conference-goers can attend the session featuring Mr. Riley:

What: Cloud Performance Summit Who: Steve Riley, Technical Leader at Riverbed When: Monday, March 7, 2011, 1:15 PM Where: Santa Clara Convention Center, Grand Ballroom H

"Tools and Techniques for Performance Optimization" From optimization appliances to overlay networks, developers have a wide array of choices that can fix some of their problems. Other challenges demand better algorithms -- or higher monthly bills. In this session, Steve will look at the technologies that can improve performance, increase capacity, and make systems more resilient.

"The State of Cloud SLAs" Cloud architects suggest that cloud applications should be built for failure. But if enterprises build applications using resilient architectures, enterprises can achieve high availability without an SLA. However, enterprises still demand a service level commitment from cloud providers. In this session, cloud providers will discuss the terms and conditions with which they're comfortable, and explain why the best SLA may be one that enterprises write themselves.

At the Cloud Connect Conference, attendees can also visit the Riverbed booth (#421) to learn how Riverbed WAN optimization solutions help IT organizations deliver anytime, anywhere IT performance to globally connected enterprises, enabling acceleration of applications and data for branch offices, data centers and mobile workers, as well as virtualized, private and public cloud environments.
