Semi-Finalists in 2003-04 Siemens Westinghouse Competition
Announced; 294 Students in 41 States Recognized Regional Finals in
Science & Math Competition Begin November 8 ISELIN, N.J., Oct.
28 /PRNewswire/ -- The Siemens Foundation has announced the 294
Semi-Finalists in the 2003-04 Siemens Westinghouse Competition in
Math, Science & Technology. Students in 41 states were selected
as Semi-Finalists in the prestigious competition. A complete list
is available at http://www.siemens-foundation.org/. The Siemens
Westinghouse Competition, now in its fifth anniversary year, is the
nation's leading research-based science and math competition for
high school students. A signature program of the New Jersey-based
Siemens Foundation, the Siemens Westinghouse Competition awards
college scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $100,000. The
competition is administered by the College Board. Up to 30
individual students and 30 teams (of two or three students) will be
selected from the list of Semi-Finalists to compete in regional
competitions hosted at six leading research universities: Carnegie
Mellon University; University of Notre Dame; University of
California, Berkeley; Massachusetts Institute of Technology;
Georgia Institute of Technology; and the University of Texas at
Austin. The Regional Finals begin on November 8. Winners of the
regional competitions are invited to compete at the National
Finals, which will be held December 6-8 at the American Association
for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) in Washington, DC. The
