1070 The Fan adds dynamic mid-day host INDIANAPOLIS, Sept. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- One of the best known and most respected names in Indiana sports, Dan Dakich is joining 1070 The Fan as its mid-day host. "While Dan is best known for his association with Indiana University, his breadth of knowledge about football and baseball are amazing. This won't be a 'basketball' show, but a sports show hosted by a guy who loves all sports," said Kent Sterling, Program Director for 1070 The Fan. Dakich spent 16 years at Indiana University as a player and assistant coach for IU legend Bob Knight, and then enjoyed a 10-year tenure as the head coach at Bowling Green State University before returning to Bloomington last year, where he finished the season as IU's head basketball coach. Both in Bloomington and Bowling Green, Dan demonstrated unshakable integrity and character. The desire to help basketball players learn lessons that serve them well as adults is the hallmark of a fine coach, and Dan has shown that to be his first priority. Every student athlete to play four years for Dan at Bowling Green earned his degree. As well known as Dan is in the sports community for his tactical knowledge, he is as well regarded as an insightful and funny speaker at camps and public events. Dan's knowledge extends to all sports, as he is an avid fan of all Indiana pro and college teams as well as the Chicago Cubs. Dakich will air live from the Monument Circle studios of Emmis Communications 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. The show is set to launch Monday, Oct. 6. "Dan knows sports and, perhaps more importantly, he has those qualities that will really make him a great host," Sterling added. "Dan is exactly who he seems. I have never run into anyone who doesn't like and admire Dan." With the addition of Dakich to a line-up that includes Kravitz and Eddie, the Colts, Pacers, IndyCar, IU Football, the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard, the Indiana Fever, the IHSAA Championship Radio Network, and High School Warm-Up, 1070 - The Fan continues to be the source for local and national sports coverage and delivers more local programming than any other Central Indiana sports radio station.
