Eclipsys Corporation (NASDAQ:ECLP), The Outcomes Company®, today announced that the New York eHealth Collaborative Regional Extension Center (NYeC REC), one of the largest nonprofit REC’s in the country, has selected Eclipsys as a preferred electronic health record (EHR) provider. NYeC, which recently received $27 million in stimulus funding associated with the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) to assist New York state providers in adopting EHRs to improve patient care outcomes, chose Eclipsys based on the company’s strong track record in preparing clients to meet the expected “Meaningful Use” requirements of ARRA.

“When researching options for inclusion in our preferred provider program, we sought companies with a proven track record in the HIT market, with solid experience serving clients in the state of New York," said Paul Wilder, Director of Healthcare IT Adoption at NYeC Regional Extension Center. “With numerous healthcare organizations in the state utilizing Eclipsys clinical solutions, the company has clearly demonstrated success in supporting New York-based physicians in achieving deep physician adoption of technology – a key requirement for meeting meaningful use – while also leveraging an industry-leading, open technology platform to meet current and future needs in a dynamic healthcare environment.”

Through this initiative, Eclipsys’ PeakPractice™ EHR solution will now be promoted as a preferred option to providers across the state of New York, assisting NYeC in its goal to automate over 5,000 primary care providers to achieve meaningful use. To be eligible to utilize NYeC’s services, a practice must include Priority Primary Care Providers (PPCP), providing primary care services in the area of family medicine, obstetrics gynecology, general internal or pediatric medicine. In addition, practices must be either individual or small group practices, defined as ten or fewer professionals with prescriptive privileges in the practice, primarily focused on primary care.

Meaningful Use of Technology for Improved Outcomes

The HITECH Act of 2009 authorized the establishment of RECs to promote physician adoption, implementation and meaningful use of EHRs. As one of the 60 RECs included in the nationally subsidized program, NYeC will assist providers by supplying education, technical support and implementation resources. By offering a neutral and trusted source of advice, NYeC will reach thousands of providers looking for help in selecting and leveraging the most from an EHR solution.

“We are proud to be a preferred provider of the NYeC, and fully support its mission to improve the quality of care in the state of New York through promoting the adoption and meaningful use of an EHR solution,” said Jay Deady, Eclipsys’ executive vice president of Client Solutions. “Eclipsys’ PeakPractice solution has state-of-the-art technology that is fully customizable to the way physicians practice medicine, helping providers to manage the complex regulatory requirements of the state of New York and significantly improve patient care outcomes.”

Eclipsys’ PeakPractice is an integrated, award-winning, Microsoft .NET-based ambulatory EHR solution that includes e-prescribing, patient portals, patient kiosk, image management and Web portal for physicians and patients.
