Gold Fields Wins WMC Gold Assets


Johannesburg, 21 September 2001: Gold Fields Limited is pleased to announce
that it has reached agreement with WMC Resources Limited to purchase its St
Ives and Agnew gold operations in Western Australia for US$ 232 million (A$470
million) plus a contingent royalty.

The consideration is made up of US$180 million in cash and US$52 million of
Gold Fields Shares. The transaction is subject to a number of conditions
precedent and is expected to be completed before year-end.

Shareholders are advised to exercise caution when dealing in the company's
securities until a detailed announcement has been released.
