Canadian Dollar Falls Further Against Major Rivals

The Canadian currency declined further against major currencies during New York afternoon trading on Friday.

The loonie extended previous session's downtrend against the US dollar and touched a 4-week low of 1.0840 by about 11:15 am ET today. The pair that closed Thursday's deals at 1.0665, is now worth 1.0796.

The loonie dropped to new multi-week low of 1.5995 versus the euro and new multi-day low of 0.9841 versus the Australian dollar at around 10:00 am ET, compared to yesterday's closing values of 1.5808 and 0.9758, respectively. Thereafter, the loonie reversed its direction and currently worth 0.9721 versus the Aussie and 1.59 against the euro.

Against the Japanese yen, the Canadian currency also traded lower in today's New York deals. The loonie slipped to a 25-day low of 83.0800 versus the yen by about 1:35 pm ET from yesterday's New York session close of 85.7200.
