Labor icon Dolores Huerta, co-founder of the United Farm Workers
union alongside Cesar Chavez, is supporting California’s
Proposition 33, the statewide ballot measure for rent control, in a
new television ad that will begin airing Saturday on Spanish
language TV stations in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Huerta, 94, speaks directly to the camera and urges Californians
to vote Yes on Proposition 33 in November because the rents in
California are too damn high. She also warns voters not to be
fooled by the California Apartment Association, the front group for
corporate landlords, which is fighting against rent control by
spreading lies about Proposition 33.
The ad will run in both English and Spanish on KDTV (Univision)
and KFSF (Unimas) in San Francisco and KMEX (Univision) and KFTR
(Unimas) in Los Angeles through September 3, 2024.
