“We are incredibly excited to have Alexis André, a renowned generative artist, choose Osura to launch his first collection on Bitcoin. This marks a significant milestone for both Osura and the broader digital art community, showcasing the potential of Bitcoin as a medium for high-quality generative art,” said Danny Yang, CEO of Metagood.

Alexis André’s generative art has gained global recognition, showcased at prestigious events such as Art Basel, Siggraph, and COP26. His works have been featured in auctions at Sotheby’s and Christie's. Frontline, Alexis André’s first work on Bitcoin, is a 10K generative art collection, created in collaboration with OnChainMonkey, and linked on-chain to OCM Genesis’ Inscription 20219.

“Frontline is my latest long-form generative art collection. I chose to work with Metagood because of their technical innovation, and community’s focus on impact,” says Alexis André. “It took me more or less one year to get to the finish line, and it is a personal journey representing that there is no perfect world. There is no good without bad. What matters is where to draw the Frontline.”

The Ordinals protocol, launched in early 2023, has opened a significant market for storing and securing high-value assets on the Bitcoin blockchain. Osura stands out as a curated Ordinals platform for premium art on Bitcoin. With a commitment to curating the finest digital artifacts, Osura launched OnChainMonkey (OCM) Dimensions 300 Collection, the Asprey Bugatti Egg Collection, Disobedients by Patrick Amadon, and now Alexis André’s debut Ordinals collection, Frontline. In order to attract art collectors from Ethereum and Solana to Ordinals to this sale, Osura expanded its wallet support to include the Magic Eden Wallet, alongside Bitcoin-native Xverse and Leather wallets.

Ordinals is a groundbreaking protocol for on-chain digital art on Bitcoin, supporting generative art like Alexis’ works natively. Leveraging the security and longevity of Bitcoin, the highest-value and most secure blockchain, Alexis’ art is rendered live directly from Bitcoin. This process involves inscribing the code that generates the art, ensuring that the creation is completely on-chain. Alexis utilized key features of Ordinals, such as Recursive Inscriptions, Parent-Child Provenance, and satoshi numbers, to express and preserve the art in a unique and meaningful way.

The Frontline collection has various traits, most notably the palettes: 25 in total, 19 of which are directly linked to the OnChainMonkey Genesis fur color. The 6 extra palettes will be quite rare, with a less than 5% chance to mint one. Holders of an OnChainMonkey Genesis were able to influence their Frontline mint by selecting their own Genesis to create their Frontline. Influential traits included: all furs, earrings 3 through 6, and Genesis ID #.

Alexis undertook extensive sampling of tens of thousands of potential outcomes during creation, with neither him nor the Osura team knowing the final appearance of each piece until after minting. This unpredictable process underscores the collection’s capacity to produce a myriad of surprising results, showcasing the expertise and innovation behind generative artistry at Osura. Ordinals for the artworks were directly inscribed to collectors’ wallet addresses on Monday, July 22nd, 2024. This pioneering use of code-driven creation, where all inputs remain unknown until minting completion, underscores the artistry and pioneering spirit that defines this historic moment in Bitcoin art history.
