Hawks Quindel has a 65-year history of successfully fighting for the rights of Wisconsin workers and labor unions. With a strong foundation of service to Wisconsin residents, expansion into Illinois was the natural next step. The launch dovetails with new workers’ rights laws that recently went into effect in Chicago, including an increase in the minimum wage and a new paid time off policy.

“We are so pleased to launch our Chicago presence with such high-caliber legal professionals who have dedicated their careers to fighting for workers’ rights,” Summer Murshid, Hawks Quindel shareholder, said. “I have known Nieves, Patrick and Alex for many years, and I am inspired by their commitment to ensuring workers have access to the legal remedies they deserve when they experience illegal treatment in the workplace. The Chicago office is poised for exponential growth and expansion under Nieves’ leadership.”

Over Bolaños’ 15-year career, she has represented workers in wage and hour, False Claims Act, and employment discrimination and retaliation litigation. She has significant litigation experience at the state and federal level, as well as with local administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Illinois Department of Human Rights and the Illinois Education Labor Relations Board. Bolaños was recently elected to serve as president of the National Employment Lawyers Association, the nation’s largest bar association whose members exclusively or primarily represent workers.

“Patrick, Alex and I are thrilled to join one of the most prominent law firms in the Midwest and the nation,” said Bolaños. “Hawks Quindel was founded to defend the rights of workers, a responsibility we are passionate about and take very seriously. We look forward to serving the greater Chicago community and beyond as part of a firm whose values are so deeply rooted in justice and fairness.”

Hawks Quindel was founded in 1959 and rose to prominence as a formidable advocate for employee rights and social justice. As the firm has grown, its mission has expanded to assisting clients with a variety of legal issues, including injuries on and off the job, disability benefits, family law issues, consumer disputes, employee benefits issues and more. The firm has five offices in Wisconsin (Milwaukee, Madison, Appleton, Kenosha and Waukesha) and recently opened its first office in Chicago.
