MIAMI, FL--(Marketwire - April 7, 2009) - Pet Ecology Brands, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: PECD) announced that its new 15,000 square state of the art manufacturing facility in Miami, Florida is now operational. The facility has been specifically designed for the custom manufacturing of its patented litter products to include conveying, blending and packaging equipment for high volume requirements. The manufacturing site, co-located with the Company's corporate offices includes a fully equipped testing laboratory for quality assurance and new product development. It is intended that other products will eventually be produced from this same facility.

Ralph Steckel, President and CEO, noted that, "The new manufacturing facility provides Pet Ecology with significantly increased production capacity, estimated to be in excess of 1.2 million pounds of litter per month. This allows us to approach major discounters such as Walmart and Target with the confidence that we can deliver product, while simultaneously expanding our presence in retail food and drug chains." Doesn't look like the YE statement had much effect. Burn has reduced, but losses continue. Hope something nice comes out of the patent infringement issue. That company you referenced is private and sounds like a mini operation at best. I know that Pet Ecology had a deal with WalMart about three years ago that went nowhere. The orders were supposed to be container loads, but ended up being a skid here and a skid there.
Marketing is important, but customer acceptance if the real key. I wish they would knock off their prices to at least match the cheap stuff. Their margins are really too high for the product, IMO, and by matching the competion with a superior product, the sales would increase dramatically and recover any potential gross profit differences.
Heading to CA in the morning, will be watching like everyone else.

PET ECOLOGY TO FILE PATENT INFRINGEMENT LAWSUIT



DALLAS, TX -- 04/03/08 -- Pet Ecology Brands, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: PECD) announced today it has retained the BALL LAW FIRM, LLP, Los Angeles, CA, and that it intends to protect its patent from being infringed on by competitors that are selling its patented products to retailers including Target Corp. and Wal-Mart Stores.

Pet Ecology's patented sickness-indicating, color-change reactor is a controlled, six-patented factor which detects the pH level of a cat's urine and indicates whether urinary tract infection is present. The less acidic a cat's urine, the more susceptible he/she is to forming stones or crystals in the urinary tract. The color of the litter changes to varying shades of pale pink to magenta when the pH in a cat's urine is abnormal. The darker the shade of pink, the more serious the problem may be.

The patents protect innovations that enable the detection the pH level of a cat's urine among other specific technology advances. In the lawsuit, Pet Ecology Brands, Inc. will seek an injunction that would prevent these companies from further misappropriating Pet Ecology, Inc.'s technology and infringing Pet Ecology, Inc.'s patents.
