Explanation of Responses:

(1)

Effective June 23, 2017, pursuant to an Agreement and Plan of Merger, dated as of December 13, 2016 between Southern National Bancorp of Virginia, Inc. ("SONA") and Eastern Virginia Bankshares, Inc. ("EVBS"), as amended, EVBS merged with and into SONA, with SONA as the surviving company (the "Merger"). In the Merger, each share of EVBS common stock converted into 0.6313 shares of SONA common stock.
