Lex Autosales sold to DaimlerChrysler UK
Lex Service PLC, the motoring and business solutions group, announced today
that it has sold Lex Autosales to DaimlerChrysler UK for #17.95 million.
The move follows Lex Service's recent decision to exit its network of used car
stores because it does not fit with RAC's retail strategy of providing
individual motoring solutions. DaimlerChrysler UK intends to build the
business into a network of dedicated Mercedes-Benz used car stores in the UK.
Employees in the sites being sold will transfer to DaimlerChrysler UK on
completion of the transaction, which is expected to take place by 30 November
2000.

Note to Editors:
The sites transferring to DaimlerChrysler UK are the Autosales stores at
Bristol, Birmingham, Poole, Hemel Hempstead, Chelmsford, Waltham Cross, and an
additional site at Croydon. A seventh store at Ipswich and a vehicle
preparation facility at Mackworth are not included in the transaction.
