VIENNA, Nov. 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- European Utility
Week - Trilliant and CGI have extended CGI's Foundation Phase
smart Change of Supplier service to include Landis and Gyr SMETS1
meters installed by British Gas. Customers with these Smart Meters
can change supplier and retain smart meter functionality and
benefits.
Energy retailers who use the CGI Smart Data Service will
be able to benefit from this service from Q4 2015 as control of the
meters moves from British Gas to CGI.
The Change of Supplier service allows energy suppliers to
continue to remotely read the existing smart meters, obtaining
readings without returning it to a 'dumb' meter state that requires
manual reading. CGI's solution ensures smart meter data is only
shared with a consumer's current energy supplier.
Edward Hurford, Director for
Smart Infrastructure at British Gas says, "Smart Meters provide
our customers with extensive benefits and deliver high customer
satisfaction. Together with our partners Trilliant and CGI, we can
now make it easier for customers to retain smart benefits even
after a change of supplier. That's great for competition and for
customers."
Tara McGeehan, Vice President,
UK Energy and Utilities, CGI says, "I am delighted that we are
able to extend CGI's Smart Data Service change of supplier
process to include Landis + Gyr meters installed by British Gas.
This makes a large population of meters available to all our Smart
Data Service clients."
Jess Thompson-Hughes, EMEA
Managing Director, Trilliant says, "This service reduces costs
for energy suppliers, as they do not have to install new smart
meters when perfectly serviceable meters are already installed - in
fact they can now actively entice existing smart meter customers
into their customer base."
CGI has offered a smart change of supplier service since 2012
but this has been limited to meters installed directly in CGI's
Smart Data Service. By integrating Trilliant's Smart Energy
Access Layer (SEAL) with the CGI Smart Data Service and
building a process to transfer control of meters from one system to
another, this change of supplier service has been extended to cover
all British Gas installed smart meters. The Trilliant's Smart
Energy Access Layer can enable not only an interface to CGI's
Foundation Data Service, but also to the DCC to support the
enrolment process. Five of the 'Big Six' energy retailers in the UK
use the Trilliant or CGI solutions for their smart meter
rollouts.
