So, VATE management seems to have mastered poor timing on the reverse stock split.
Why they scheduled the stock split to take effect the day after releasing earnigns makes no sense to me.
Had the stock split taken place Aug 2, as originally announced, the split adjusted earnings would have come in at $1.00 a share, for the quarter, for a stock trading at around $5/ share.
As it was done, the earnings show as .10/share on August 8, but that is before the 1:10 reverse split, that took effect after the close on 8-8, which certainly causes confusion. Just stupid, IMO.
But the satock does look like a screaming buy at $4.50/share, with quarterly earnings at $1/share. And this is before apporval of the kidney monitoring system they have been working to get through the FDA process for several years. Once that clears, they should have a huge bump in earnings and interest.
Trading now at annualized 1x earnings-- just crazy cheap.

Primus Telecommunications Group Successfully Emerges From Chapter 11
MCLEAN, VA--(Marketwire - July 1, 2009) - Primus Telecommunications Group, Incorporated ("Group"), together with three affiliated non-operating holding companies, Primus Telecommunications Holding, Inc. ("Holding"), Primus Telecommunications International, Inc. and Primus Telecommunications IHC, Inc. ("IHC" and together, the "Holding Companies"), today completed the necessary steps to implement their consensual Plan of Reorganization and have successfully emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The Plan of Reorganization was confirmed on June 12, 2009.
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer K. Paul Singh said, "This is an exciting day for PRIMUS which marks the official completion of our financial restructuring. We emerge with significantly reduced debt and a strengthened capital structure." Under the terms of the Plan of Reorganization PRIMUS has reduced its debt by $316 million, or 55%, and will emerge from bankruptcy with approximately $255 million of debt. Additionally, PRIMUS reduced interest payments by approximately 50% and extended certain debt maturities.
On July 1, 2009 (the "Effective Date"), Group's common stock was cancelled and Group issued 4,800,000 shares of common stock, par value of $0.001 per share (the "New Common Stock") to holders of IHC's 14 1/4% Senior Secured Notes due 2011 and 4,800,000 shares of New Common Stock to holders of the 5% Exchangeable Senior Notes due 2010 and 8% Senior Notes due 2014 issued by Holding (collectively, the "Holding Notes"). The 9,600,000 aggregate shares of New Common Stock represent 100% of the issued and outstanding common stock of reorganized Group as of the Effective Date. The Company expects the New Common Stock to be traded on the OTC Bulletin Board within a few days of the Effective Date.
On the Effective Date, the Holding Notes and the 3 3/4% Senior Notes due 2010, the 12 3/4% Senior Notes due 2009 and the Step Up Convertible Subordinated Debentures due 2009 issued by Group (collectively, the "Group Notes") were cancelled. Also, on the Effective Date, $173 million of outstanding 14 1/4% Senior Secured Notes due 2011 were cancelled and replaced with $123 million of 14 1/4% Senior Subordinated Secured Notes of IHC with an extended maturity until 2013, and $96 million in an outstanding variable rate Term Loan due 2011 issued by Holding was reinstated and amended.
Also on the Effective Date, Group issued Class A warrants to purchase up to an aggregate of 3,000,000 shares of New Common Stock to holders of the Holding Notes and Class B warrants to purchase up to an aggregate of 1,500,000 shares of New Common Stock to holders of the Group Notes. The warrants have a five-year term. The Class A warrants consist of three classes of 1,000,000 each entitling the holders to purchase up to 1,000,000 shares of New Common Stock at initial exercise prices of $12.22 per share, $16.53 per share and $20.50 per share, respectively. The Class B warrants have a five-year term and entitle the holders to purchase up to 1,500,000 shares of New Common Stock at an initial exercise price of $26.01 per share. Group also issued to holders of the Old Common Stock a pro rata share of contingent value rights representing the right to receive up to 2,665,000 shares of New Common Stock after the equity value reaches a certain threshold.
On the Effective Date, Group's new Management Compensation Plan became effective and grants to acquire shares of New Common Stock were reserved for certain senior officers and employees of Group and its operating subsidiaries as follows: 400,000 restricted stock units were reserved for certain senior officers; service-based stock options to purchase 400,000 shares of New Common Stock were granted to certain executive officers and employees; and performance-based stock options to purchase 100,000 shares of New Common Stock were granted to certain senior officers.
As planned, none of PRIMUS's operating companies in the United States, Australia, Canada, India, Europe or Brazil were included in the restructuring. The operating units have and will continue to manage and to operate their businesses normally.
"Our ability to achieve an efficient and effective financial restructuring is due, in large part, to the dedication of our employees, the loyalty of our customers, and the support and cooperation of our vendors and major creditor groups," said Mr. Singh. "We now ask them to join us as our new journey begins."

No Offense that does not impress me at all you should not have even brought that article you mentioned one of the worst known companies, that Primus is doing something with...Nortel, or as the nickname goes "Norhell", your kidding me right? do you honestly think Nortel can do anything for primus, I mean they cant even watch there own backs never mind work with another company, Nortell is also headed for the crapper, a stock that was once 800 on todays money with a 10-1 split is now the stock is trading at .50 cents .50 cents!!! Not to mention Nortel lost 3.2billion dollars as they keep losing revenue and you think what Nortell and Primus are doing is going to do anything for either of them the two companies cant even make 1....O the clock will soon be ticking on Nortell 8 trading days and they will be receiving the NYSE letter of there share price under a dollar, just another problem for them, nboth companies are headed out, telecoms have been hrting since the tecxh bubble burst and with primus being small coupled with the recession and the huge bearish trend there heading right out, and Norhell aint far behind and u know it, dont worry they will do another 10-1 split I see your a big poster of them over in that chat room, some of you think theres hope for that stock they have only been saying this for the last 6 years "well Nortell cant get much cheaper" but it always does, and no one will buy them out either, it to would have already happened, the only thing thats worth anything for Nortell is the methro ethernet Business and they cant even find a seller for that, I hope you people really start looking the mirror dont talk to me about Nortell, or Primus though If i had to pick one its Primus, because another thing working against Nortell is there hated amoung big time investors and mutual funds only thing left in that stock is pymping and dumping and thats the bottom line

Seems like new stuff to me...
Nortel's Optical, Ethernet Chief Morin talks 40G
Dec 3, 2008 2:13 PM, By Ed Gubbins
http://telephonyonline.com/global/news/nortel-40-g-1203/?smte=wl
Nortel Networks today announced its 36th and 37th customer wins for the 40-gigabit-per-second optical gear it released in April: US cable TV provider Mediacom Communications and Canadian carrier Telus. The news comes just weeks after analysis firm Ovum declared that the 40G market is finally beginning to enter a “generalized deployment phase,” with 40G revenue growing 48% annually from a base of $178 million last year. Philippe Morin, president of Nortel’s Metro Ethernet Networks group (which includes optical gear) spoke with Telephony’s Ed Gubbins today about the market.
On 40G applications: The biggest part of our 40G business right now is not router-to-router connectivity; it’s 4 by 10. What you’ve seen from Ovum is that in the past -- until Nortel came out with a solution – 40G deployments were predominantly routers to routers. Because our solution is more cost-effective than 4 by 10, we’re now replacing – it’s a bit what we did with 2.5G and 10G in ‘99 and 2000 – we’re now going after the 4 by 10 market. That’s why we’ve got so many wins in such a short time frame. We’ve gone from April to sitting here in December with 37 wins -- that’s a pretty steep ramp. And in a third of these wins, we were not the incumbent. [Note: Nortel was the incumbent at Telus, however, and at another recent 40G win, Alaska Communications Systems.]
On 40G drivers: It’s all about bandwidth growth around the world, driven by our appetite for video. Cable TV providers, for example, are looking at video on demand and high-definition VOD. Every minute, 10 hours of video are uploaded onto YouTube. The long-haul 40G solution we provided Telus with is to help them manage bandwidth growth, predominantly driven by data-center connectivity -- especially in Canada, being a pretty big geography, helping them reach those data centers [is important].
On 40G and carrier spending: [Carriers] need to go to 40G because it’s more cost-effective than continuing with 10G. In a recession, they’re still going to be looking for ways to cost-reduce their solutions, and that’s why they’re jumping up to the 40G. When you can show them there’s a very simple path to 100G by just replacing a circuit pack, in our case, it makes it more compelling to upgrade the network.
On 100G: We’re targeting the end of next year for productizing [100G]. From a market demand point of view, the real trigger initially on 100G will be driven by router-to-router connectivity, once they have that 100G interface.
On the proposed sale of the Metro Ethernet Networks group: The exploration of the divestiture is absolutely continuing. We’re continuing the same level of investment [in the group] in terms of product and sales support.
