Hawaiian Telcom Employees Donate More than $150,000 to United Way Organizations
Employees Raised Funds Through Pledges and Events  

HONOLULU (Thursday, January 30, 2014) - In 2013, Hawaiian Telcom employees raised $153,837 to support the four United Way organizations that provide needed services throughout the state of Hawaii. Checks were recently presented to Aloha United Way, Hawaii Island United Way, Maui United Way and Kauai United Way.  

"We are so grateful for the generosity and giving hearts of all the employees at Hawaiian Telcom.  They are so dedicated to helping others in their community and have a lot of fun doing it!" said Kim Gennaula, President and Chief Executive Officer of Aloha United Way. "All of us at Aloha United Way are truly thankful for the tremendous support Hawaiian Telcom has given us over the years.  Aloha United Way dollars help over 800,000 people a year in our community and they play a big part in making that possible."

Hawaiian Telcom employees raised money through a combination of individual pledges and team fundraising events, such as breakfast sales, a car wash and silent auctions, on all islands.

"Our employees understand the importance of supporting our local communities and really gave from their hearts," said Hawaiian Telcom CEO Eric Yeaman. "I'm proud of the teamwork, creativity and tremendous effort they all put into our fundraising activities, which is helping to Build a Better Tomorrow."
