Clydeport plc ("the Company") announces that on 10 January 2003 Clydeport
Trustees Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company, as Trustee of the
Clydeport QUEST ("the Quest") acquired by subscription, at a price of #4.385 per
share, a total of 223,109 ordinary shares of 5p each in the capital of the
Company. All of the shares acquired by the Quest are intended to be used to
satisfy options exercised in due course under the Clydeport 1994 Savings Related
Share Option Scheme. As potential beneficiaries under the Quest, each director
of the Company is treated as being interested in shares acquired by the Quest.
