Shares of Byotrol PLC rose 50% on Wednesday after the company said that its Byotrol 24 sanitizer has been approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for long-lasting virucidal claims.

Shares at 1422 GMT were up 0.85 pence at 2.55 pence.

"This new approval means we can now make specific long-lasting efficacy claims against viruses, which should in turn significantly increase the commercial potential of our U.S. formulations," Executive Director David Traynor said.

The infection prevention-and-control technology company also said that it continues to advance alliances and commercial opportunities in the U.S.
