                      BEA - FIRM ORDER FOR LNG CARRIER

Bergesen announced 24 March 2000 that it had entered into a preliminary
agreement with the Korean yard Deawoo Heavy Industries Ltd. for construction of
a LNG-carrier of 138,000 cbm, of the membran type.

Final agreement with the yard was concluded 5 April 2000.
