The following table lists unplanned and planned production
outages at U.S. refineries as reported by Dow Jones Newswires. The
information is compiled from both official and unofficial refining
sources and doesn't purport to be a comprehensive list.
A sulfur unit tripped on June 18 at the 139,000 barrel-a-day
HollyFrontier refinery in El Dorado, Kansas, according to a notice
from the National Response Center. The duraton of the hydrogen
sulfide release was about one hour.
A power loss took place at Phillips 66, 260,000 barrel-a-day
Westlake, LA., refinery late June 16, according to the National
Response Center. The power outage was of short duration and an
affected unit was restarted.
An emissions even took place June 15, at Phillips 66, 105,000
barrel-a-day refinery in Ferndale, Wa., according to the National
Response Center. The duration of the even was one hour and nor firm
indications were forthcoming regarding the effect on any refinery
units.
A planned flaring event is scheduled to take place at BP's
264,000 barrel-a-day refinery in Carson, Cazlif., from June 18
throu;gh June 25, according to the South Coast Air Quality
Management District. No firm indication was givine as to Ehich
units will be affected.
Citgo on June 12 said planned turnaround maintenance at
unspecified process units at its Lemont, Illinois, refinery had
been completed. The work began at the end of April and traders
doing business in the region said a crude unit was one of the units
slated work.
Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) on June 12 said the leak in an LPG
line leading to a hydrocracker unit at its Corpus Christi, Texas,
refinery had been repaired. The leak was discovered the day before
and the hydrocracker continued to operate during the work, the
company said.
An FCCU at Valero's Port Arthur, Texas, refinery continues to
operate at a slightly reduced rate while work continues to repair
associated blowers, the company said on June 12.
The smallest of three crude distillation units at BP PLC's (BP,
BP.LN) Whiting, Indiana, refinery was restarted over the weekend, a
source familiar with the plant said on June 11. It was taken out of
service for unplanned work around June 1.
Delek US Holdings (DK) on June 11 said a malfunction at sulfur
recovery unit 1 at its Tyler, Texas, refinery caused a brief period
of emissions, according to a report to environmental
regulators.
Motiva Enterprises'(RDSA, RDSB) newly-commissioned
325,000-barrels-a-day crude unit at it's Port Arthur, Texas, was
taken out of service over the weekend for weeks, if not months, of
repairs, a source familiar with operations at the plant said on
June 11. The unit was commissioned into service on May 31 and shut
on June 4 to repair leaking valves, the same source said at that
time.
Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) on June 9 reported planned flaring at
its Torrance, Calif., refinery to Calif. state regulators. The
company on June 4 said several units, including a coker, pretreater
and hydrogen unit, were scheduled for several weeks of planned
maintenance and that flaring could be visible between June 4 and
13.
Shell Oil Co. (RDSA, RDSB) on June 8 reported flaring and a
release of sulfur dioxide at its San Francisco-area refinery in
Martinez, Calif. The cause wasn't known and no other details were
provided in a filing to Calif. state regulators.
Marathon Petroleum Corp. (MPC) on June 8 told Dow Jones
Newswires that planned maintenance was under way at a number of
operating units at its refinery in Robinson, Ill. No other details
were provided.
