Innovative online dispute resolution solution
will increase access to justice
Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) announced an agreement with
Travis County, Texas, for Tyler’s Modria® online dispute resolution
(ODR) software. Under the agreement, the Travis County Justice of
the Peace, Precinct Two, will use Modria to help residents resolve
disputes online.
Travis County is the first court in Texas to select Modria,
allowing parties involved in a lawsuit to engage directly with each
other to reach a resolution without coming to court. This will save
residents and the court time and money.
“We believe Tyler’s Modria solution will not only facilitate
quicker resolution in legal disputes, but it will also create
greater access to justice for the many members of our community who
cannot easily travel to the courthouse,” said Randall Slagle,
Travis County Justice of the Peace, Precinct Two. “Providing online
dispute resolution is another way our organization is working to
ensure all members of our community have access to a fair and
impartial court system.”
ODR creates opportunity for resolution without having the
parties physically come to the court; if parties can't solve their
dispute online, they still have the option to appear before a
judge. Tyler’s Modria solution offers the workflows and
communication tools necessary to facilitate any kind of resolution,
from simple debt disputes to complex family and custody cases. Its
intuitive user experience and workflow tools are designed to
resolve issues in a fast and efficient manner, with a fair and
transparent process for all participants.
“Travis County continues to be a leader in innovative approaches
to justice, and we’re eager to begin implementing Tyler’s Modria
solution for civil case types in Travis County,” said Jamie
Gillespie, general manager of Tyler’s Modria solution. “Modria
successfully resolves disputes, and it’s great to see Travis County
take a leadership role in improving access to justice here in
Texas.”
Modria continues to gain momentum in courts across the country.
Williamson County, Texas, recently became the second Texas county
to adopt Modria. Fulton County, Georgia, also recently signed a
Modria contract for Small Claims and Landlord Tenant cases, and
Clark County, NV (Las Vegas), is up and running with Modria for
creation of parenting plans in Contested Divorces as of April.
Travis County is home to the Texas state capitol in Austin, and
is the fifth most populous county in Texas with a population of
more than 1 million. Tyler also provides its Brazos™, SoftCode™ and
Odyssey solutions® to Travis County.
