STOCKHOLM--Volvo has signed an agreement with Irish building-materials supplier CRH as two companies aim to accelerate net-zero innovations in the design and deployment of on-road vehicles and off-road equipment used in construction.

Swedish truck maker Volvo said Tuesday that the memorandum of understanding will focus on next generation technology deployment, scaling, and operational efficiency.

CRH, which moved its primary listing to New York in September, aims to identify opportunities to maximize the value of sustainable innovation in construction, while Volvo will contribute with expertise from its truck and construction equipment brands in sustainable transport and infrastructure solutions.

Volvo's target is to have 35% fully electric sales by 2030 and be net-zero in its value chain by 2040. CRH is targeting a 30% reduction in groupwide emissions by 2030 and to become a net-zero business by 2050.
