BXLT Baxalta Incorporated

NEW YORK, May 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- S&P Dow Jones Indices will make the following changes to the S&P 500, S&P MidCap 400 and S&P SmallCap 600 indices:

• TransDigm Group Inc. (NYSE:TDG) will replace Baxalta Inc. (NYSE:BXLT) in the S&P 500 after the close of trading on Thursday, June 2. Shire plc (LSE: SHP, NASD: SHPG) is acquiring Baxalta in a deal expected to be completed on or about that date pending final conditions.
• S&P SmallCap 600 constituent Helen of Troy Ltd (NASD: HELE) will replace Waste Connections Inc. (NYSE:WCN) in the S&P MidCap 400, and Team Inc. (NYSE: TISI) will replace Helen of Troy in the S&P SmallCap 600, after the close of trading on Tuesday, May 31. Progressive Waste Solutions Ltd. (TSX:BIN, NYSE: BIN) and Waste Connections are merging to form a new company called Waste Connections in a deal expected to be completed on or about that date pending final conditions. "New" Waste Connections will be considered to be domiciled in Canada for index purposes and will be ineligible for continued inclusion in the S&P MidCap 400.
• Brocade Communications Systems, Inc. (NASD:BRCD) will replace MDC Holdings Inc. (NYSE:MDC) in the S&P MidCap 400, and MDC Holdings will replace Ruckus Wireless, Inc. (NYSE:RKUS) in the S&P SmallCap 600 after the close of trading on Tuesday, May 31. Brocade Communications Systems is acquiring Ruckus Wireless in a deal expected to be completed on or about that date pending final conditions. MDC has a market capitalization more representative of the small-cap market space.

TransDigm Group, designs, produces, and supplies aircraft components. Headquartered in Cleveland, OH the company will be added to the S&P 500 GICS (Global Industry Classification Standard) Aerospace & Defense Sub-Industry index.

Helen of Troy Limited designs, develops, imports, markets, and distributes a portfolio of consumer products worldwide. Headquartered in El Paso, TX, the company will be added to the S&P MidCap 400 GICS Household Appliances Sub-Industry index.

Brocade Communications Systems provides storage area networking and Internet protocol networking solutions for businesses and organizations. Headquartered in San Jose, CA, the Company will be added to the S&P MidCap 400 GICS Communications Equipment Sub-Industry index.

Team provides specialty industrial services. Headquartered in Sugar Land, TX, the Company will be added to the S&P SmallCap 600 GICS Environmental & Facilities Services Sub-Industry index.

MDC Holdings engages in homebuilding and financial services businesses. Headquartered in Denver, CO, the Company will be added to the S&P SmallCap 600 GICS Homebuilding Sub-Industry index
