There is nothing unique about this shelf offering. You'd have to make a case that it's related to patent protection.

The Michael Best PR is one of my favorites in describing where LWLG sits today and, more importantly, where it is going in the context of the industry shift to photonics. While the duck gracefully glides along the water's surface, its feet are rapidly and unrelenting in directing its destination.

Every time you ask any modern AI model a question, you’re tapping into something that behaves less like a traditional program and more like a distributed, coordinated machine—a kind of “giant computer brain” spread across many specialized processors.


Behind the scenes, large language models (LLMs) run on clusters of GPUs or TPUs connected by extremely high-bandwidth, low-latency interconnects. These systems are designed to move data as efficiently as possible, because for modern AI workloads, performance is often limited not just by computation, but by how fast data can be accessed and exchanged.

When you submit a prompt, the model processes it using billions of parameters. In dense models, most of these parameters are involved in each step; in architectures like Mixture-of-Experts, only a subset is active at a time. Either way, the system must rapidly read from memory, perform large matrix multiplications, and—in multi-GPU setups—coordinate across devices.

This creates significant pressure on memory bandwidth and communication pathways. Transformers, the architecture behind most LLMs, repeatedly pull data from memory and apply attention mechanisms across the growing sequence of tokens. During inference, responses are generated one token at a time, and each step depends on the results of the previous one. To make this efficient, systems rely on techniques like KV caching, which avoids recomputing past work but increases memory demands.

Modern AI infrastructure reflects these constraints. High-performance deployments use:
• High-bandwidth memory (HBM) to keep data close to compute units
• Fast interconnects like NVLink and NVSwitch within a node
• Cluster networking such as InfiniBand or high-speed Ethernet between nodes

These technologies allow processors to share data quickly enough to function as a coordinated system. Depending on the model and deployment, a single query might run on anything from one GPU to many working together, but the underlying challenge remains the same: keeping data moving fast enough to avoid bottlenecks.

In that sense, the “giant brain” analogy holds up—loosely. The parameters act like stored knowledge, the interconnects resemble communication pathways, and each generated token emerges from layers of tightly synchronized computation. But unlike a biological brain, this system is constrained less by raw compute and more by the cost of moving information around.

The key insight is subtle but important: modern AI systems are often limited not by how fast they can calculate, but by how efficiently they can access and share data. The faster those internal “conversations” happen, the faster the system can produce coherent responses.

I bought another 1000 shares in the last two days. It’s always the day or two before big holidays that traders pull out and volume is light.  Perfect time to grab cheaper shares.  Also if this does go to 5, I’ll start liquidating my other equities to buy more.   Antwon where saying ‘ I told you so’ is short sighted. 

New patent issued. No. 12,668,743 - NONLINEAR OPTICAL CHROMOPHORES HAVING TETRAHYDROCARBAZOLE DONOR GROUPS, LYOTROPIC COMPOSITIONS CONTAINING THE SAME, AND METHODS OF POLING SUCH COMPOSITIONS. This is the third patent with this name. The implications of this improvement in the chemistry of the chromophore in Perkinamine has been discussed before but bears repeating.

First, some definitions:
NON-CENTROSYMMETRIC: Not clumped about a central point. The clumping of the chromophore molecules is a bad - it reduces the electo-optic effect (measured as r33) of Perkinamine.
LYOTROPIC: A liquid crystal material that exhibits phase transitions as a function of concentration.
NEMATIC: The structure of liquid crystals whose molecules align in loose parallel lines. This is the desired alignment of the chromophores to achieve optimum performance (higher speed, low power).

This paragraph describes the "invention" covered by the patent:
Various embodiments of the invention exhibit liquid crystalline properties and form lyotropic compositions when mixed with a solvent. For example, in certain embodiments, the chromophores display lyotropic nematic liquid crystal phases in polar organic solvents. Resulting liquid crystalline properties provide a mechanical anisotropic effect allowing for the formation of a non-centrosymmetric chromophore-polymer matrix without the application of an electric field. In accordance with various embodiments described herein, a sufficient electro-optic coefficient (r33) can be induced mechanically, alleviating the need for the application of poling temperature and electric field, typically 170° C. & 100 v/pm. The liquid crystalline properties and the lyotropic compositions allow for milder processing conditions and, thus, higher poling efficiency.
This is a fancy way of saying that the chromophore as described can arrange itself in the desired fashion (linear arrangements with the negatively charged ends next to the positively charged ends) with little or no heat or electric field applied, simplifying the poling process. Higher poling efficiency means a higher r33 value, which results in less power needed to operate a device using this version of Perkinamine.

Another part of the text says:
In various embodiments, no further poling is required to provide a nonlinear optical thin film suitable for use in electrooptic devices, such as modulators. In various embodiments, the solvent can be removed under controlled conditions to maintain the chromophore in the highly ordered and densely packed state. In various embodiments, traditional poling processes including application of a field across the chromophore thin film can also be carried out. Nonlinear optical chromophores in accordance with various embodiments of the invention can also be combined with a matrix material or host polymer and a solvent to form a lyotropic composition. In various embodiments, a high boiling point solvent can be used for poling...
I think the lyotropic aspect relates to the "curing" of the material after it is applied to a device. Perkinamine is spin-coated on as a liquid. After poling, it is in a solid form. The material is dried, removing some of the solvent, which changes the concentration and it solidifies. This can be done with high heat, but the advantage now is that high heat it not required - the material solidifies itself once some of the solvent is removed.

I don't recall any discussion related to this patent, but it looks to me that this is a key advancement in transferring production to foundries. The poling process is simplified and streamlined. And, the company has continued to improve the material such that 3 patents have been issued for it. This is heavy organic chemistry and I can't determine the changes in this version from the original, but would like to know what they are.

Yves needs to get off LinkedIn and focus on delivering on his defined timelines. Does he know it’s early Q3? If he misses timelines on what he has essentially promised we are headed to last year’s SP. LWLG should be trading and staying in double digits.

This kind of underhanded activity is my biggest concern.

LWLG is my biggest hold and I have big hopes but no doubt companies are trying to figure out how they work around the patents similar to this situation.

Pre holiday downs.  I’ve been nibbling. Fall time frame back above 10.  And results from stage 3 will shoot this to 20+ imo.   Even if the ai bobble pops, this will be in quite a few products because it offers so many advantages.  As other may have said, this isn’t incremental technology, this is the next large leap to newer power efficient and faster devices.

There’s hardly any volume. This could easily go the other way.

So IQMX started trading premarket opening at $12.76 ... and so far has seen a high of $13.78 at about 10:06 and a low of $11.60 at 1:20 ... with above average volume at this point of 497K shares, according to Schwab. It's sitting at $12.08 right now... just an fyi for the record. It may be interesting to see where it goes...

Without some modification like adding heat, I don't see how the tech would anything as a drain cleaner..

No interest? 1 year chart says otherwise. Naive take.

Simply no interest in our gem currently 

If Lightwave logic is considering diving back into the component business. I have identified a possible target aquistion that should be considered. I would *like* to see them acquire; just like they should have acquired polarition. But....

Anyway, it looks to be that a group of very smart swedish folks have developed an Optical Server that ONLY uses Light (no electrical conversions needed) and is much faster than any AI compute system today.

AI & High Performance Computing at the Edge & Cloud

The 2 major problems for AI and HPC hardware faces in the coming years are the memory bottleneck and energy inefficiency. With all-optical computing, both problems are solved at the same time in an elegant way.

Top of the line electronic AI hardware reaches an operation to memory ratio of >200:1 (arithmetic intensity), but modern large language models often require a much lower ratio, even down to 1-5:1 for models like LLaMA. This is hard to crack for electronics, but our optical memory does not have any of these bandwidth limitations, giving our architecture an ideal 1:1 arithmetic intensity.

While performance is important, a much more pressing issue is energy. Electronic components, especially electronic wires, are very power hungry, dissipating unnecessary amounts of energy for something as simple as moving and processing a bit. Top of the line electronic tensor processing units are barely able to reach 1 TOPS-8 per Watt. Optics on the other hand, with its near lossless wave-guides and components, doesn't have any problem crossing this domain at 10x-100x the efficiency, enabling new low power AI applications at the edge.

LWLG is due for a news release, last one being on May 7th so over a month ago, there are many important news items to come yet in 2026, but the ones that would be my favs to get today would be 1) Supply Agreement Yves currently negotiating presumably with Marvell 2) the first Fortune Global 500 moving to Stage 4 and finally 3) TSMC as a partner with an Operational PDK

t's a steal at this level, buy before the next run takes this to new all-time highs, the potential is in the $100's over the next 3-5 years!!!

Look on the daily chart at the technicals had gotten quite OVERSOLD. the RSI, MACD got back to levels not seen since LWLG PPS was in the 3's!!!!

ACCUMULATION is still VERY STRONG though, so LWLG is under heavy ACCUMULATION

3) currently negotiating High Volume with one of the FG500's, HV production on Timeline for 2nd half of 2027

4) Marvell signs off and buys Polariton with LWLG inside (commercial validation), next up Marvell signs Supply Agreement with LWLG for Polariton's Modulators

5) an MOA in place per SEC docs with one of the FG500's, this is a contractual agreement unlike an MOU

so I'd say probability of another run taking LWLG to new highs in 20's is pretty high in 2026

Let's not forget the TAM has tripled and the SAM has doubled, contract negotiations ongoing with Fortune Global 500 companies currently!!

"Novel materials integration" is exactly where EO polymers like Perkinamine fit.
The Polariton/ETH Zurich Bridge
This is where LWLG touches the EU ecosystem directly. Polariton's website explicitly states: "We are excited to supply our EO polymer materials and integration expertise enabling Polariton to develop a revolutionary approach addressing the opportunities presented by AI market" — and that quote is attributed to LWLG on Polariton's own site. Polariton spun out of ETH Zurich, is a Swiss company, and operates squarely within the European research and photonics ecosystem that Chips Act 2.0 is designed to strengthen.
When Marvell acquired Polariton, they absorbed a team built inside the European academic and policy environment that the EU is now doubling down on with Chips Act 2.0.
The Indirect but Powerful Link
There's no direct LWLG grant or named involvement in Chips Act 2.0. But the policy logic creates a powerful tailwind:

EO polymer materials for photonic modulators are precisely the kind of advanced materials the EU has identified as a strategic gap.
PIXEurope's "novel materials integration" mandate creates a natural institutional home for the kind of work Polariton (now Marvell) has been doing with Perkinamine.
If European photonics foundries funded by Chips Act 2.0 adopt EO polymer modulator PDKs — the same pathway LWLG has pursued at Tower, GlobalFoundries, and SilTerra — Perkinamine becomes a candidate material inside the EU's own sovereign photonics buildout.
The bottom line: There's no LWLG press release saying "we're part of Chips Act 2.0." But the policy creates a €380M+ institutional funding wave behind exactly the technology category — advanced photonic IC materials and pilot line manufacturing — where Perkinamine is the leading documented material. The Polariton/ETH Zurich lineage gives LWLG an organic connection to the European research ecosystem the EU is now trying to scale commercially. That's not a direct contract, but it's a meaningful structural tailwind."

Tower Semiconductor: In March 2026, Lightwave Logic announced a development agreement with Tower Semiconductor to integrate its polymer modulators into Tower's PH18 silicon photonics platform. This allows customers to design and tape out ultra-fast, energy-efficient modulators using Lightwave Logic's EO polymers.

GlobalFoundries: Lightwave Logic officially integrated its high-speed modulator platform into the GDSFactory Process Design Kit (PDK) that supports GlobalFoundries' silicon photonics manufacturing platform. Designers can now directly incorporate Lightwave Logic’s polymer modulators into standard
GlobalFoundries flows.

SilTerra Malaysia: In March 2026, SilTerra announced it had made Lightwave Logic's high-speed polymer modulator platform available within the Luceda Photonics PDK. The two companies also successfully completed an initial tapeout using the PDK to support 200 Gbit/s and 400 Gbit/s operations for AI infrastructure.

As expanding AI capabilities dramatically increase demands on compute, what does this mean for chip designers?

With data centers pushing beyond today’s 200G-per-lane requirements, silicon-based modulators are hitting the limits of their capabilities when it comes to optimizing designs for 200G and 400G per lane applications. While the technical case for electro-optic (EO) polymer-based silicon-organic hybrid (SOH) modulators has been evident for many years, the challenge has always been integrating and scaling these modulators into existing manufacturing ecosystems.

Over the past several months, however, Lightwave Logic has started to embed Perkinamine® modulator reference designs in the photonics PDKs of Tower Semiconductor, GlobalFoundries, and SilTerra Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. A designer on any of these platforms can now place a high-speed EO polymer modulator into their photonic integrated circuit the same way they’d place any other PDK-verified component, with simulation, verification, and development all handled within a design environment they are familiar with.

Our EO polymer-based SOH modulators offer several advantages for chip designers:

Low drive voltage: The devices operate efficiently at drive voltages below 2V. EO polymers outperform materials like silicon, lithium niobite, and barium titanate due to their high electro-optic coefficient (r33). Higher r33 means a larger refractive index change per volt applied, which translates directly to lower drive voltage.
High speed: The polymers are designed to support extremely high-speed data transmission exceeding 100GBaud PAM4 (equivalent to 200G/lane)
Foundry compatibility: The technology is designed to be compatible with standard 200mm and 300mm silicon photonics foundry processes

His session focused on the reliability challenges associated with scaling high-speed silicon photonics modulators. To help clarify the road ahead, he drew a parallel to the early development of OLED displays, which once were doubted for their long-term durability but through advances in encapsulation have become a foundational technology in smartphones, televisions, and more. Similar approaches are now enabling electro-optic polymers to deliver both high performance and long-term stability for next-generation optical interconnects.
