DIRECTOR'S INTERESTS IN SHARES

On 29 August 2003 Lord Harris sold 150,000 Carpetright plc shares to Harris
Ventures Limited at 756p per share. Accordingly, these shares remain part of
Lord Harris' beneficial interest.

Lord Harris has current beneficial and non-beneficial interests in 13,760,845
and 854,000 shares, respectively.
