The silver supply chain has been strained by a number of factors, including a rise in demand, supply chain challenges, and limited primary mines:
Demand
Demand for silver has increased due to its conductive properties in green technologies like electric vehicles and solar panels. In 2022, global demand for silver exceeded supply by a record 263.5 million ounces, and a deficit of 184.3 million ounces is estimated for 2023.
Supply chain challenges
Post-pandemic supply chain challenges and operational disruptions have hampered the mining sector's ability to keep up with demand. Other factors contributing to the deficit include:
Falling production in Mexico and China
Resource nationalism in Peru
Low incentive prices
Higher input costs
Limited primary mines
Around 80% of silver supply comes from by-products of lead, zinc, copper, and gold projects, so boosting supply is difficult.
The deficit between supply and demand has led to concerns about future shortages. As of April 2024, COMEX vault inventories of silver were also declining, down from a peak of over 400 million ounces in early 2021. $GDXJ

$19M non sustaining CAPEX costs
136M shares outstanding
$1900/oz gold price
Using the above numbers on a worst and best case scenario, I get these share price
forecasts:
$11.48 Worst Case
$15.47 Best Case
Each $100 change in the average price of gold can swing the needle in those scenarios by
$1.50 - $2.00 in the share price value. Therefore, even if the POG fell back to $1700/oz,
ARIS is still undervalued by at least $3/share on a worst case scenario meaning they
produce near the bottom of the range and the AISC comes in near the top of the range for
2023.

gold and steel. Soaring higher interest rates -- with more to come for sure --and fears of a recession are driving this market. Perception is more important than reality, and as we have seen from today’s action with CLF, a great Q1 report and guidance cannot overcome investor fears. Mortgage rates now at a 12 year high, and Powell about to up the fed funds rate a half point in may, and another half point in june and who knows how much more he will need, but the market is worried and is at ponzi valuations the vast majority of industries, or soon to be at ponzi valuations in others, if things shut down..
The question is are investor fears the coming reality? The market is still wildly expensive, and we are in the largest debt bubble, in the largest indebted nation, in history, with other indebted nations proportionally worse that U.S., although we are now close to the top.
The fear seems to be now that the FED as usual phoucked up, they should have started raising rates 6 months ago, or even 9 months ago, and now they gotta take a meat clever to the inflation problem, thereby risking a complete demand shutdown almost across the board. Right now business have been able to pass on inflation costs but small businesses in particular cannot continue to do so....customers will simply no longer buy, and go into a shut down mode. Housing is gonna be completely choked off as the rates now on mortgages are at an all time high. If they declare a recession 6 to 8 months from now, remember, that means they will have looked back at the prior two quarters and seen a complete drop off of demand just about everywhere, and new cars (and new car loans) like homes like all the other industries, in the coming weeks and months, will simply fall off a cliff, in terms of demand. CLF had a tremendous quarter they just report, and the stock was up 3 bucks early in the day but closed down 63 cents, 28.95-0.63 (-2.13%)

People are afraid of a coming recession starting in the next 2 to 8 weeks, which we will only learn about in 6 to 8 months, as the government looks back in time.

had to dump it all yesterday. o well, live and learn. the chart was extended and I also point out this important article, which suggests gold will trend down until the Fed is forced to turn on the spiggot of loose money again (unless all markets simply collapse, the author caveats).....he suggests a prediction that september to october will be a good time to buy, and until then gold will drift down in the wake of the fed's rate hike campaign. So too might or should stocks which go down historically, when real yields rise. I added to my gdxj yesterday, buying over 300K worth, at around the current price of 49.65. Owning gold and Gdxj and and gdxj and perhaps some silj at this point is like being the Casino instead of the player.
Sure the player will have his runs, there is no question about it, but here is a fact about casino gambling: Even if the odds somewhat favored the casino (look at craps where you can almost get even odds if you play astutely), the player would still lose. Even if the odds are somewhat in his favor, he will still lose. Why is that? Streaks. He will eventually encounter an outrageous run of bad luck, and so long as he continues to stay at the table, he will encounter such an event, and it will wipe him out. The Casino, on the other hand, has access basically to unlimited money and can withstand even the most bizarre streak by a player. Over time, the Casino will always win, no matter what. At this point in the economic cycle and given the pickle that world governments find themselves in, they are guaranteed to lose to commodities in general and gold and the gold (and silver eventually) etfs. It is a won game at this point. Patience is all that is required. GDXJ in 2 years will be approaching 200 bucks a share, give or take. I am ok with that.
Imagine buying the S and P at its low point in the great financial crisis, late year 2008. That is where gold and the miners are right now. The world is about to change for a very long time, a steady sort of thing.
