In addition to a rather large stake ( for me ) with Pinetree

(1) I have an equally large stake in CEF* which has turned nicely
(2) A lithium ETF : LIT*, mired in the swamp for a long time
(3) A fertilizer ETF : SOIL*, also mired down for a long time
(4) A Uranium holding fund, URPT*, similar to PNPFF
(5) Gold Explorers ETF: GLD*, has turned nicely along with CEF*
( The THREE ETFs are from the Global ETF Family )


So PNPFF, which may be selling at a really nice discount - - but
we cannot know since Pinetree no longer publishes calculated
N.A.V.,ever, as far as I can tell - - PNPFF has not turned, but
CEF* and GLD* have both turned nicely for me at this time.


I think PNPFF is real gamble for sure, but since I took a large
stake 3 years ago - - AND SUFFERED BADLY AS A RESULT - -
to double down for only $700.00 was a simple move IMO

Gold is starting to break through some resistance levels, looking better all the time.

In the technology sector, I thought that POET would be further along by now.

If this is the bottom of the commodity sector, could get interesting. March of 2007 was real sweet, after that I was a little nervous hold any for too long. Need to understand the loan situation.

I am going to spend some time studying this one

I hear you, Rich. HOWEVER, these guys made their living gobbling up miners and drillers that were desperate for capital and couldn't get it through more traditional sources. Like most of their ilk, they likely brutalized small companies that were desperate for cash, extracting punitive terms and take huge shares of equity for themselves. There called vultures. That's the nice term.

My worry with these guys is - the shoe appears to be on the other foot. I wouldn't get too carried away as long as these guys are busting their loan covenants and defaulting on loans.

Further, if I am correctly informed, there appears to be a major housecleaning of senior management and a reshuffling if Board Members. I HAVE NOT HAD TIME TO VERIFY THIS INFORMATION, but if true this is not a good sign and was likely forced upon the company by debt holders. I want to learn more about this. This makes me very nervous. Witness what's going on with Greece right now. "He that has the gold (even at these low prices??) makes the rules.

If the commodity cycle is truly bottomed out, and I believe that is is, PNPFF will rise again.

The average price of silver to extract out of the ground is close to $ 20.00 per ounce. Look at the sport price. Some mines are idling, some continue to post losses.

How much longer without out something radically changing can this go on ?

PNPFF is diversified and has potentially good technology investments also.

The debt holders have agreed to an extension of the due date, pushing it out into June. This time frame is coincident with the anticipated move of POET to the NASDAQ, as recently stated by Poet's Interim CEO, Peter Copetti. I believe the debt holders will be satisfied when Pinetree's best asset quadruples or quintuples in value (which is basically what needs to happen if POET will meet the listing requirements - and they plan to).

I made some money here once before and if we are at bottom for silver and gold (just these two items alone) will cause it to rise


Precious metals are only 39% of their holdings, they are diverse and have some excellent holdings in the technology sector.

I want to buy much more but I don't want it halted and my $ to become worthless they could end up liquidating

Their "golden" asset is, IMO, the 13 million shares (and warrants to buy 7 million more) of PTK (Poet Technologies). I believe the short-term potential surrounding that issue is what enabled the deadline extensions of the broken debt covenants. The resource stocks they hold are deeply in the toilet and any comeback THEY make will be merely icing on the cake.

The real asset here is their stake in Poet.

I am watching closely and starting to buy some.

campaign to dramatically increase production. They are a strong
consideration...although the political risk factor is there.

I think that the bottom is in for Gold and Silver.

If I am not mistaken, the average cost to extract is around $ 20.00 an ounce. Many mining companies have a near average total cost to extract gold at $900.00 - $1,000.

How much longer can the gold and silver( at a lost now for most miners) keep selling at these prices.

The price of oil is falling and helps reduce the cost to extract, yet we live in an unstable world and regardless of the strength of the dollar - something got to give here.

I just bought a starter stake, because the bottom is here in my opinion

I had the same trouble when I took my initial position

NOW MUCHO UNDERWATER. I do not have the stomach to add at this price, which I am sure is a mistake.

TO GET MY SHARES, I had to hit or exceed the ask, and also to work very carefully within the ask size parameter.

I see that the ask size, RIGHT AT THIS MOMENT, is 17,700 .

So hit the ask size ( or more )at your bid, and increment your bid, even going over the ask, until you get your shares.

For some reason, that's what I had to do to get my 30,000 shares a long while ago.

Gold seems to have reversed. MAYBE ! But the miners are still falling.

With a falling oil price — a major cost driver ( diesel ) for the miners, the miners should be doing somewhat better.
