Antiviral agents are highly important for the management of COVID-19. New antivirals are needed, because available drugs have drawbacks that limit their use and are threatened by drug resistance. This study demonstrates that the small molecule drug BIT225 is an inhibitor of an important viral ion channel (E protein). E protein is required for virus replication and is involved in eliciting inflammatory response to infection. Exacerbated inflammation is a hallmark of severe COVID-19 in mice and in humans. In a mouse model of severe SARS-CoV-2 infection, BIT225 treatment starting before or 24 hours after infection could protect all treated mice from developing disease, from experiencing weight loss and from death (100%, n = 17), while all untreated mice developed severe disease, started to lose body weight from Day 3 onwards and died within 9 days after infection. BIT225 treatment was associated with potent suppression of virus load, and reduced inflammation markers, consistent with effective clearance of the virus. These results are remarkable for the high efficacy achieved with a new mechanism of action. BIT225 is a clinical stage drug candidate with an established human safety profile. These results support clinical evaluation of BIT225 for the treatment of human SARS-CoV-2 infection.

BIT225 has previously shown antiviral activity against both HIV-1 and HCV in the clinic, as well as potential to reverse adverse viral-induced immunopathogenesis [8,9,37–40]. BIT225 is currently being evaluated in phase 2 clinical studies for its potential to reduce HIV-1 replicationAnd this is the best BIT ( pun lol ) These results indicate selective inhibition of E protein ion channel activity by BIT225 and the ability of BIT225 to fully suppress E protein ion channel current.

Now that means it don't replicate , and of course dies .

I am with you now BMD , that hunch on HIV is getting bigger and bigger .

Coronavirus pandemic makes Biotron Limited a good pick for 2020. Biotron testing their proprietary antiviral molecules against the COVID19 virus and could be the company to make history for having the cure. .20cent by year end.

Biotron moving on Prospects of Coronavirus vaccine. They have announced that they are now testing several compounds against coronavirus. Hard to say where this PPS is going. Currently a strong buy recommendation in Australian Market.

This may sound dumb to those on this board but I have a question. Can anyone out there tell me whether it is ever possible to take shares you own and purchased on one exchange ( let’s say a US stock exchange ) and take those shares and trade them on another exchange? (Say the Australian stock exchange). As long as the stock broker is able. It’s a question I’ve always wondered about.

No I don’t see this as a cure yet , but very much interested as to what will happen .,

Your welcome. Someone on the board of another stock I own, did a no-no and mentioned this stock lol! My initial buy was .08 Australian $ (.058 US$ ) and have been adding on dips. It went way up and then retraced before exploding yesterday. I will follow this tonight and may sell some to take profit. The market opens at 3pm PST. Very difficult to trade on our OTC, minimal exposure and no volume I have to go through Schwab global market. So far I don’t see a cure for hiv here and for now , but if there will be reduction of virus in cellular reservoirs it will be a good beginning ,

Obviously they think similar way since they keeping patients still on HAART after TIB225 is stopped 12 weeks later .,,

Well , actually we don’t really know in details how good are results in phase 2 HIV study ,
As per company , analysis of the study will be done end of 2018 or beginning of 2019..

Huge potential with novel compound and great phase 2 trial results. Now investors waiting on news of a deal with Big Pharma. Med Director presenting clinical trial results at big conferences between now and early 2019 with goal of creating Big Pharm interest. It’s a waiting game now. If new partnership funding or buyout occurs this stock is easy $1-2 or more IMHO. Good buy and hold investment.

Who ever is holding this stock back please lift your ask. The stock price is 10 cents greater in Australia. Those desiring shares will pay more if you lift your ask. I’d slap the higher ask myself if I had the chance.

Very curious about final results !!

Although you only need one indication to catch the eyes of big Pharma Bit225 has 2 applications. HCV and HIV. Plus BITRF has other compounds. If buy out occurs or partnering it will be to swilling up there entire portfolio of compounds. For example Gillead bought one compound for $11.4 billion after a phase 2 trial in past. Not even sure the drug ever commercialized. BITRF is a keeper until commercialization or buy out occurs

I think that now they talking with Chines about hepatitis C and B and not yet about HIV , but I maybe wrong .,

Not a stretch. They’ve already been communicating and forging relationships with Chinese Pharma before trials were completed. Big Pharma already on notice.

I’ve done my research but I can’t find anything that will give me what the estimated Price target is for this short or long term. Does anyone have a clue regarding this?

How an HIV Trial Triggered a 667% Jump in Australian Penny Stock

The name is Biotron Ltd., and before its five-day 667 percent rally, it had a share price of just 2 Australian cents.

The Sydney-based drug company with just five full-time employees last week announced the “successful” outcome of a phase-two trial of BIT225 HIV-1 drug and retail investors have been lapping it up. The company said its therapy suppressed the HIV virus more than current antiretrovirals.

“The data shows there are significant immunological benefits in patients receiving antiretroviral drugs with 200 mg BIT225 compared to antiretroviral drugs plus placebo,” Biotron said in a statement.



The share price jumped 11 percent the day before the announcement and then another 105 percent after the trial results were released. Since then, it’s surged more than 50 percent each day, with the stock climbing to about A$0.14 today.

It’s no surprise that penny stocks can make big moves when news is announced. Biotron’s rally in the past five days has increased its market value to A$70.3 million (about $44 million) and made it Australia’s 11th biggest gainer for the year. BidEnergy Ltd., another penny stock, is the top performer, having surged 567 percent this year.

Biotron plans to present more detailed data at scientific conferences later this year, the company said in its Sept. 28 statement.

Michelle Miller, the company’s managing director and a former scientist at Johnson & Johnson, said she’d been watching her stock price soar.

“The Australian stock market is always an interesting place,” she said. “Folks tend to over-react to bad news and then when there’s good news they react accordingly, but not always.”

It is a little stretch for now ...imo......

Monotherapy with BIT225 in the past show there was no improvement of Viral load ,
But did cause reduction in HIV in certain white blood cells , macrophages .

So even if all the results will be great patients will need HAART or
Loronlimab (Pro 140 ) from CYDY , together with BIT225.
But it is very interesting study , this is why I too bough some shares today.

Australian clincal trial show positive results for possible HIV Cure. Not just treatment or suppression, but cure. Stock going bazzerk in australia trading over 100million shares daily and up 400% over last few days. Information just hitting US markets and starting to show now. Normally trades 1000 shares or less per day but today over 300K shares traded . IMO Big Pharma is going to come after this little biotech
