Wow - that was a great trade.

Same reasoning applies here, imo. If I can pick up some more cheapies, I will. May be a year or more before they get L2 again, but I have found that extreme patience often pays off.

Makes sense, I had one with a big spread and got a small fill 500 shrs at .085 bid, sold two weeks later at the ask 10.50.

Say, I wonder what we can glean from the new name. I would imagine that the "AE" stands for "April Energy", which would probably mean we are still in the energy sector. Hope this time it's some kind of alternative fuel..

Not all together sure what the "Holding I" means, except that seems to imply there will be a "II".

I have always dedicated a portion of my portfolio to very low liquidly plays like APLN that have very large spreads. I always surmised that the large spread could be a good indicator that the float is either low, or locked down. When I find one that I like, I put in extreme low ball limit orders and then just forget about it. Sometimes they fill, and then I do a little more digging.

Kinda sounds like a backwards approach, but when the dollars amounts are as low as what I am spending, it's pretty low risk.

Creede, good work. The financials, share structure and a business description are what I believe is needed for solicitation. Not sure if they need to be audited or not. If so, a simple audit should be ok, ala pre Sarbanes Oxley standards for the pinks.

well.... there is a WHOLE BUNCH of info on the Hub regarding Bartel. Seems his hand has been in many plays. I've only just started to look around and it has gone to extremes. One company (SMPP) has an a/s of about 5B, and as you can imagine, it's a triple zero sub. Another company, AVIX, has an a/s of 500MM, and it's trading in dollars.

I'm gonna dig some more just to see what else I can learn, but at the end of the day I wonder if there is much that can be concluded about the future of APLN, since once he finishes the merger, I would imagine he is gone.

Now, all of the stocks that I looked at thus far have been pinksheets. That kinda makes me think that they will not be taking APLN straight to the OTCBB, but instead are going file a Form 211 with FINRA to become solicited.

I believe to do that they need audited financials and a market maker willing. Right?

New DD for AVIX.....New CEO Joseph Bartel, very interesting new AVIX CEO.....His companies name is Elliot Watson.
Here's some background info on AVIX new CEO. Another reason why I like AVIX so much is because it looks like some big money players took over AVIX shell. Also, Bartel did a deal that made 8 million dollars profit. AVIX has 47 million shares OS. If Joseph Bartel puts just one of these type deals into AVIX and earns an 8 million dollar profit that would be earnings of 15 cents a share. That would put AVIX trading in the $1.50-$2.00 per share range at 10-15 times earnings. Huge upside on this deal thanks for bringing it to my attention.

That finally explains it. Post r/s that would put the current float at probably 750k. That's why they did not do a r/s. It's already been done!

No wonder it never trades.

No wonder asking prices were near $10 per share.

If memory serves, I bought all 15k of my shares at one time. That would mean I got them from someone used to have 300k.

OTCBB shows the 1/20 r/s ex date 6/3/05 and name change.

The reason I ask is because I have seen a lot of crazy spreads before, but .0002 x .62 is A LOT of distance.

I see no mention of Bartel in the last PR that Morton issued announcing the name change. I am also confused by the share consolidation mentioned in the release. It seems it never happened? (Plus it's worded wrong. Should read 1 share for each 20 share basis in a consolidation which is the same as a reverse split). Note the links to the old website are now hosted by a poker site, which you already found.

turns out there are a couple of filings at pinksheets under the APLN ticker. The first filing I looked at was dated March 11, 2004 and pertained to Golden Opportunity (the company prior to April Energy). Here's what I picked up regarding the shares and ownership:

I talked to Bill Morton today and he seemed pretty upbeat about the future of this company, they hold the land and are planning a total of 12 wells on the property over about the next year to 15 months

I am willing to hold my shares until this property is drilled out and put on line, it is unknown and has a seemingly solid future ahead of it.

That caused me to check the NV SOS, and I found that it says "MERGE OUT". Does that mean they have merged with another company that is registerd in another state? TIA

I've been trying limit orders for a couple of days now. I can place the order online, but so far nothing has filled. I've started as a low as .0025 and I have gone as far as .25 with still no fill.

To be honest, I am not surprised. Back in 2008 when I got the fill to sell (and then had it canceled) for $9.05 per share, the spread was like .01 x 9.05. Gotta remember that APLN was an unsolicited pinky before it went grey (which is basically two of the same thing except for the fact that now we don't have L2), and thus the spread has always been pretty much what retail has for sale.

From the time and sales we see that it only traded like 2 times in 2010. That would leave me to assume that there are simply no retail shares for sale at or below .25, and that the MM's don't have any either. I know all my limit orders to sell had expired, and I had not even bothered to renew them.

Can you believe that there has not been a trade in APLN since March of 2010, and that the total number of shares traded in 2010 was 280?

as of today, April Energy is now AE Holding I. The iHub board and chart has been changed accordingly.

I called my broker today and found out the new transfer agent for AE Holding I is Madison Stock Transfer. Their number is 303.422.8127.

I gave Madison a call, and they gave me the a/s of 300MM, and the o/s of 52,753,510. They would not give the restricted.

I asked them about April Energy/AE Holding I. They were nice enough to give me the attorney's name and number.

I've tried several test buys to try to test the Ask, and thus far nothing. I've gone as high as .05. May go a little higher.
