BMW's Munich plant will produce solely electric vehicles
starting at the end of 2027 onward.
The German carmaker said Wednesday it will spend 650 million
euros ($710.6 million) to update the factory site with four
buildings, including a vehicle-assembly line.
"The Munich plant is an excellent example of our ability to
adapt," said Milan Nedeljkovic, a BMW board member in charge of
production.
In a statement, BMW characterized the decision as the "era of
automobiles with combustion engines from Munich" ending.
