Sybase 365 Mobile Commerce Leadership Recognized with 2009 CTIA Emerging Technology Award Win

Sybase 365, a subsidiary of Sybase, Inc. (NYSE:SY), the global
leader in mobile messaging services, today announced that mpass,
mobile payment system received the CTIA Wireless 2009� Emerging
Technology (E-Tech) Award for Innovation in the Mobile Payments
category. Winners were announced at the recent International CTIA
Wireless Conference in Las Vegas.
The CTIA Emerging Technology Awards program is designed to give
industry recognition and exposure to the best wireless products and
services. Winning first place in the mobile payments category, this
award recognizes Sybase 365 leadership and commitment in the mobile
commerce ecosystem.
This award showcases leading German mobile operators, Vodafone
and o2, who launched the mpass system, leveraging the Sybase 365�
Mobiliser platform*. mpass seamlessly integrates with Germany�s
direct debit system �Lastschriftverfahren�, which is open to more
than 70 million German bank account holders and all mobile
customers. mpass enables customers to securely pay online with an
easy SMS confirmation, and to top-up airtime through the internet
or mobile phone.
