IDACORP, Inc. (NYSE: IDA) reported first quarter 2026 net income attributable to IDACORP of $68.0 million, or $1.21 per diluted share, compared with $59.6 million, or $1.10 per diluted share, in the first quarter of 2025.


"Strong first quarter results benefited from customer growth and rate changes," said IDACORP President and Chief Executive Officer Lisa Grow. "As expected, those benefits were partially offset by higher O&M expenses and recording fewer tax credits under the company’s Idaho regulatory mechanism."

IDACORP is reaffirming its full-year 2026 earnings guidance in the range of $6.25 to $6.45 per diluted share with the expectation that Idaho Power will use less than $30 million of additional tax credits available under the Idaho regulatory mechanism in 2026. The earnings guidance assumes normal weather conditions and power supply expenses through the end of the year.

Net Income - First Quarter 2026


IDACORP's net income increased $8.4 million for the first quarter of 2026 compared with the first quarter of 2025, due primarily to higher net income at Idaho Power.


A net increase in retail revenues per MWh, net of power cost adjustment mechanisms, increased operating income by $18.0 million in the first quarter of 2026 compared with the first quarter of 2025. This benefit was due primarily to an overall increase in Idaho base rates, effective January 1, 2026, from the outcome of the settlement stipulation for Idaho Power's 2025 Idaho general rate case (2025 Settlement Stipulation).


Customer growth increased operating income by $5.0 million in the first quarter of 2026 compared with the first quarter of 2025, as the number of Idaho Power customers grew by approximately 15,000, or 2.3 percent, during the twelve months ended March 31, 2026. Usage per retail customer, net of associated power supply costs and power cost adjustment mechanisms, decreased operating income by $10.7 million in the first quarter of 2026 compared with the first quarter of 2025. Usage per residential and commercial customers decreased most significantly, as more moderate temperatures in the first quarter of 2026 compared with the first quarter of 2025 led these customers to use less energy for heating purposes. These decreases were partially offset by increases in usage per irrigation and industrial customers, as lower precipitation in the first quarter of 2026 compared with the first quarter of 2025 led irrigation customers to use more energy for operating irrigation pumps, and a large load industrial customer increased energy use as it ramped up operation of its facility. An increase in the deferral of residential and small commercial customer revenues through the FCA mechanism positively affected retail revenues by $19.1 million.


Other O&M expenses in the first quarter of 2026 were $13.1 million higher than the first quarter of 2025. This increase was primarily the result of increased wildfire mitigation program expenses and the amortization of previously deferred costs related to the conversion of generating units at the Jim Bridger power plant from coal to natural gas, much of which is recovered in customer rates and reflected in revenues pursuant to the 2025 Settlement Stipulation.


Depreciation and amortization expense increased $5.7 million in the first quarter of 2026 compared with the first quarter of 2025, due primarily to an increase in plant-in-service. Additionally, the start of operations at a leased battery storage facility in the second quarter of 2025 contributed modestly to the increase through the amortization of a related right-of-use asset.


Other changes in operating revenues and expenses, net, increased operating income by $13.6 million in the first quarter of 2026 compared with the first quarter of 2025, due primarily to a decrease in net power supply expenses that were not accrued for future refund in rates through Idaho Power's power cost adjustment mechanisms. Also contributing to the increase in other changes in operating revenues and expenses, net, was a decrease in property tax expense due to property tax legislative changes in Idaho.


Non-operating expense, net, increased $4.1 million in the first quarter of 2026 compared with the first quarter of 2025. Higher long-term debt balances led to an increase in interest expense, while lower interest-bearing cash investments led to a decrease in interest income. Interest expense recorded on a new finance lease also contributed to the increase compared with the first quarter of 2025. This increase was partially offset by an increase in allowance for funds used during construction (AFUDC) in the first quarter of 2026 compared with the first quarter of 2025, as the average construction work in progress balance was higher.


The increase in income tax expense for the first quarter of 2026, compared with the first quarter of 2025, was primarily due to a decrease in additional ADITC amortization under the Idaho regulatory settlement stipulation. Based on Idaho Power's current expectations of full-year 2026 financial results, Idaho Power recorded $6.3 million of additional ADITC amortization during the first quarter of 2026, compared with $19.3 million of additional ADITC amortization during the same period in 2025.

(NYSE: IDA) reported fourth quarter 2025 net income attributable to IDACORP of $43.6 million, or $0.78 per diluted share, compared with $37.9 million, or $0.70 per diluted share, in the fourth quarter of 2024. For the full year ended December 31, 2025, IDACORP reported net income attributable to IDACORP of $323.5 million, or $5.90 per diluted share, compared with $289.2 million, or $5.50 per diluted share, in 2024.

Net Income - Fourth Quarter 2025


IDACORP's net income increased $5.7 million for the fourth quarter of 2025 compared with the fourth quarter of 2024, due primarily to higher net income at Idaho Power.

Usage per retail customer, net of associated power supply costs and power cost adjustment and FCA mechanisms, decreased operating income by $4.9 million in the fourth quarter of 2025 compared with the fourth quarter of 2024. Residential usage per customer decreased most significantly, as warmer temperatures in the fourth quarter of 2025 compared with the fourth quarter of 2024 led residential customers to use less energy for heating.


Other O&M expenses in the fourth quarter of 2025 were $12.9 million lower than the fourth quarter of 2024. This decrease was driven by lower labor-related costs and lower expenses from thermal, transmission and distribution assets, when compared with the fourth quarter of 2024.


Depreciation and amortization expense increased $7.4 million in the fourth quarter of 2025 compared with the fourth quarter of 2024, due primarily to an increase in plant-in-service. Additionally, the start of operations at a leased battery storage facility in the second quarter of 2025 contributed to the increase through the amortization of a related right-of-use asset.


Other changes in operating revenues and expenses, net, decreased operating income by $4.7 million in the fourth quarter of 2025 compared with the fourth quarter of 2024, due primarily to the successful conclusion of multi-year litigation efforts challenging Idaho and Oregon property tax valuations which resulted in refunds of prior year taxes being finalized in 2024, which did not reoccur in 2025. This decrease was partially offset by recovery of costs of a new finance lease through Idaho Power's power cost adjustment mechanism rates.


Non-operating expense, net, increased $3.9 million in the fourth quarter of 2025 compared with the fourth quarter of 2024. Higher long-term debt balances and an increase in transmission customer deposits, on which Idaho Power must pay interest to the customer, led to an increase in interest expense. Interest on a new finance lease also contributed to the increase compared with the fourth quarter of 2024. This increase was partially offset by an increase in Allowance for Funds Used During Construction (AFUDC) in the fourth quarter of 2025 compared with the fourth quarter of 2024, as the average construction work in progress balance was higher.


The decrease in income tax expense for the fourth quarter of 2025, compared with the fourth quarter of 2024, was primarily due to plant-related flow-through items.


Net Income - Full-Year 2025


IDACORP's net income increased $34.3 million for 2025 compared with 2024, due primarily to higher net income at Idaho Power.


The net increase in retail revenues per MWh, net of power cost adjustment mechanisms, increased operating income by $49.6 million in 2025 compared with 2024. This benefit was primarily due to an overall increase in Idaho base rates, effective January 1, 2025, from the outcome of the 2024 Idaho Limited-Issue Rate Case.


Idaho Power's customer growth of 2.3 percent added $25.2 million to Idaho Power's operating income in 2025 compared with 2024. Usage per retail customer, net of associated power supply costs and power cost adjustment and FCA mechanisms, decreased operating income by $6.5 million in 2025 compared with 2024. During 2025, usage per customer decreased for most customer classes. Milder temperatures during the year reduced the demand for both space heating and air conditioning. This decrease was partially offset by an increase in irrigation usage per customer, as lower precipitation during the summer led irrigation customers to run irrigation pumps more frequently. Partially offsetting the revenue impact of decreased usage per customer, a decrease in the deferral of residential and small commercial customer revenues through the FCA mechanism positively impacted retail revenues by $6.8 million.


Other O&M expenses in 2025 were $9.6 million higher than in 2024. This increase was primarily driven by inflationary pressures on labor-related costs, professional services, and increases in statutory fees assessed by regulators.


Depreciation and amortization expense increased $27.7 million in 2025 compared with 2024, due primarily to an increase in plant-in-service. Additionally, the start of operations at a leased battery storage facility in the second quarter of 2025 contributed modestly to the increase through amortization of a related right-of-use asset.


Other changes in operating revenues and expenses, net, decreased operating income by $3.8 million in 2025 compared with 2024, due primarily to the successful conclusion of multi-year litigation efforts challenging Idaho and Oregon property tax valuations, which resulted in refunds of prior year taxes being finalized in 2024, which did not reoccur in 2025. In addition, the timing of recording and adjusting regulatory accruals and deferrals positively impacted 2024 results, but did not reoccur in 2025. These decreases were partially offset by recovery of costs of a new finance lease through Idaho Power's power cost adjustment mechanism rates and a decrease in net power supply expenses that were not deferred for future recovery in rates through Idaho Power's power cost adjustment mechanisms.


Non-operating expense, net, increased $22.8 million in 2025 compared with 2024. Higher long-term debt balances and an increase in transmission customer deposits, on which Idaho Power must pay interest to the customer, led to an increase in interest expense. Interest on a new finance lease also contributed to the increased interest expense compared with 2024. This increase was partially offset by an increase in AFUDC during 2025 compared with 2024, as the average construction work in progress balance was higher.


Idaho Power recorded $40.3 million of additional ADITC amortization under its Idaho regulatory settlement stipulation during 2025, compared with $29.8 million in 2024. The $20.4 million decrease in income tax expense, excluding additional ADITC amortization, in 2025 compared with 2024 was primarily due to income tax return adjustments for state taxes and plant-related flow-through items.

(NYSE: IDA) reported 2014 net income attributable to IDACORP of $193.5 million, or $3.85 per diluted share, compared with $182.4 million, or $3.64 per diluted share, in 2013. IDACORP recorded fourth quarter net income attributable to IDACORP of $34.6 million, or $0.69 per diluted share, compared with $27.6 million, or $0.55 per diluted share, in the fourth quarter of 2013. IDACORP is initiating 2015 full year earnings guidance in the range of $3.65 to $3.80 per diluted share and is not expected to use any additional accumulated deferred investment tax credits in 2015 under the Idaho regulatory settlement.

Idaho Power Company, IDACORP's principal operating subsidiary, reported 2014 net income of $189.4 million compared with $176.7 million in 2013, and net income of $34.2 million in the fourth quarter of 2014, compared with net income of $27.4 million for the same period in 2013.

IDACORP's net income increased $11.1 million for the year ended December 31, 2014 when compared with 2013. Idaho Power's operating income decreased by $38.0 million for 2014 compared with 2013. Lower overall usage per customer, primarily due to a return to moderate weather conditions in 2014 compared with 2013, decreased operating income by $38.1 million. These weather-related decreases were partially offset by increased sales volumes associated with continued growth in the number of Idaho Power customers, which increased operating income by $9.1 million when compared with 2013. The number of Idaho Power's general business customers increased by 1.4 percent from December 31, 2013 to December 31, 2014. Increases in labor-related expenses, depreciation, property taxes, and other items combined to decrease operating income by $8.4 million in 2014 when compared with 2013.

In 2014, Idaho Power recorded a $3.9 million increase in AFUDC related to greater average construction work in progress, while in 2013 it recorded a gain of $11.6 million related to the sale of investments in securities that was not repeated in 2014. The net decrease in income tax expense of $56.7 million more than offset the lower pre-tax income in 2014.

Effect of Income Taxes and Tax Method Changes on Results

Income tax accounting method changes for years prior to 2014 increased net income by $29.1 million for 2014 when compared with 2013. In 2013, Idaho Power recorded $4.6 million of income tax expense as a result of a cumulative method change adjustment related to its capitalized repairs deduction for generation assets for years prior to 2013. By contrast, during 2014, Idaho Power recorded an income tax benefit of $24.5 million related to finalization of its method change adjustment for generation assets for years prior to 2014 as well as modifications to its overall capitalized repairs deduction tax method as agreed to with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service. The income tax benefit related to Idaho Power's 2014 capitalized repairs deduction was $7.8 million greater than 2013, due to the impact of the method changes and the amount and type of 2014 capital additions. Income tax expense at Idaho Power not related to method changes was $19.8 million lower in 2014 than in 2013, primarily due to lower pre-tax earnings in 2014.

Effect of Sharing Mechanism on Results

During 2014, Idaho Power recorded a total of $24.7 million related to a December 2011 Idaho regulatory settlement agreement, which requires sharing with Idaho customers of a portion of 2014 earnings exceeding a 10.0 percent return on year-end equity in the Idaho jurisdiction. In accordance with the terms of the settlement agreement, of the $24.7 million, $16.7 million was recorded as additional pension expense and $8.0 million was recorded as a provision against current revenues to be refunded to customers through a future rate reduction. Idaho Power recorded similar amounts in 2013. A total of $118 million in earnings has been shared with Idaho customers through sharing mechanisms since 2009. The impact of sharing on 2014 and 2013 results is reflected in the following table (in millions):

(NYSE: IDA) reported third quarter 2014 net income attributable to IDACORP of $86.9 million, or $1.73 per diluted share, compared with $73.1 million, or $1.46 per diluted share, in the third quarter of 2013. For the first nine months of 2014, IDACORP recorded net income attributable to IDACORP of $158.8 million, or $3.16 per diluted share, compared with $154.8 million, or $3.09 per diluted share for the first nine months of 2013.

"Based on our results to-date and expectations for the remainder of 2014, we have increased IDACORP's 2014 full-year earnings guidance from the range of $3.50 to $3.65 per share to the range of $3.70 to $3.80 per share," added Anderson.

IdaCorp Raises Dividend 13%

Idaho electric utility IdaCorp (NYSE: IDA ) announced today its third-quarter dividend of $0.43 per share, a 13% increase over the payout made to investors last quarter of $0.38 per share. The new higher payout to investors was announced last month.

The board of directors said the quarterly dividend is payable on December 2 to holders of record at the close of business on November 6. The regular dividend payment equates to a $1.72-per-share annual dividend, yielding 3.4% based on the closing price today of IdaCorp's stock.

BOISE, Idaho, Sept. 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- IDACORP, Inc. (NYSE: IDA) announced today the approval by the IDACORP Board of Directors of an increase to IDACORP's quarterly common stock dividend.

At its meeting on September 19, 2013, the IDACORP Board of Directors approved a 13.2 percent increase in the regular quarterly cash dividend on IDACORP's common stock to $0.43 per share. At the new rate, the dividend on an annualized basis is $1.72 per share. The next quarterly dividend at the new rate is payable December 2, 2013 to IDACORP shareholders of record on November 6, 2013.
