With TOPSwitchGaN, we’re pushing flyback into a power range previously not possible, allowing engineers to achieve high efficiency and performance with a far simpler architecture.”


TOPSwitchGaN ICs provide 92 percent efficiency across the load range—from 10 percent to 100 percent load—and easily beat European Energy-related Products (ErP) regulations at less than 50 mW power consumption for standby and off modes. The device does this without the need for synchronous rectification. They are ideal for high-end appliances, e-bike chargers, and industrial applications.


PowiGaN switches deliver much lower RDS(ON) than silicon. This results in reduced conduction losses which dramatically increase the power capability of flyback converters. These new devices incorporate 800 V PowiGaN switches, which provide excellent surge withstand capabilities and low switching losses, meaning that they can operate at switching frequencies of up to 150 kHz to minimize transformer size.


No-load consumption is well below 50 mW at 230 VAC including line sense, and up to 210 mW of output power is available for 300 mW input at 230 VAC to run housekeeping functions when units are in standby mode.

The new ICs are available in two styles. For ultra-slim designs, low-profile eSOP™-12 surface-mount packaging enables 135 W (85–265 VAC) to be delivered without a heat sink for applications such as appliances. The vertical orientation of the eSIP™-7 package minimizes PCB footprint and has a thermal impedance equivalent to a TO-220-packaged part. By mounting a metal heat sink using a simple clip, the extended power range is achieved for applications including power tools, e-bikes, and garage openers. Because TOPSwitchGaN ICs are pin-to-pin compatible with TinySwitch™-5 off-line switcher ICs, designers can use the same methodology for applications spanning 10 W up to 440 W.

Die Leerlaufleistungsaufnahme liegt bei 230 VAC einschließlich Netzspannungserfassung deutlich unter 50 mW und bei 300 mW Eingangsleistung an 230 VAC stehen bis zu 210 mW Ausgangsleistung zur Verfügung, um Hilfsfunktionen im Standby-Betrieb zu versorgen.

Durch die Montage eines Metallkühlkörpers mit einem einfachen Clip wird der erweiterte Leistungsbereich für Anwendungen wie Elektrowerkzeuge, E-Bikes sowie Garagentorantriebe erreicht. Da TOPSwitchGaN ICs Pin-kompatibel zu TinySwitch™-5 Off-Line-Switcher-ICs sind, können Entwickler dieselbe Methodik für Anwendungen von 10 W bis 440 W verwenden.

Les circuits intégrés TOPSwitchGaN offrent un rendement de 92 % sur toute la plage de charge – de 10 % à 100 % – et dépassent largement les exigences de la réglementation européenne sur les produits liés à l'énergie (ErP) avec une consommation inférieure à 50 mW en mode veille et en mode arrêt. Le dispositif y parvient sans avoir recours à la rectification synchrone. Ces circuits sont idéaux pour les appareils électroménagers haut de gamme, les chargeurs de vélos électriques et les applications industrielles.


Les commutateurs PowiGaN affichent une valeur de RDS(ON) nettement inférieure à celle du silicium. Il en résulte une réduction des pertes de conduction, ce qui augmente considérablement la capacité de puissance des convertisseurs flyback. Ces nouveaux dispositifs intègrent des commutateurs PowiGaN de 800 V, qui offrent une excellente résistance aux surtensions et de faibles pertes de commutation, ce qui leur permet de fonctionner à des fréquences de commutation pouvant atteindre 150 kHz afin de réduire au minimum la taille du transformateur.


La consommation à vide est bien inférieure à 50 mW à 230 VCA, détection de ligne comprise, et une puissance de sortie pouvant atteindre 210 mW est disponible pour une entrée de 300 mW à 230 VCA afin d'assurer les fonctions de gestion interne lorsque les appareils sont en mode veille.

Les nouveaux circuits intégrés sont disponibles en deux versions. Pour les conceptions ultra-minces, le boîtier à montage en surface eSOP™-12 à profil bas permet de fournir une puissance de 135 W (85–265 VCA) sans dissipateur thermique pour des applications telles que les appareils électroménagers. L'orientation verticale du boîtier eSIP™-7 minimise l'encombrement sur le circuit imprimé et offre une impédance thermique équivalente à celle d'un composant en boîtier TO-220. En montant un dissipateur thermique métallique à l'aide d'un simple clip, on obtient une plage de puissance étendue pour des applications telles que les outils électriques, les vélos électriques et les ouvre-portes de garage. Les circuits intégrés TOPSwitchGaN étant compatibles broche à broche avec les circuits intégrés de commutation hors ligne TinySwitch™-5, les concepteurs peuvent utiliser la même méthodologie pour des applications allant de 10 W à 440 W.

Power Integrations (Nasdaq: POWI) today announced that on March 2, 2026, it granted a total of 21,595 restricted stock units (RSUs) and 2,786 performance stock units (PSUs) to several new employees who began their employment with Power Integrations in February 2026. Pursuant to the related offer letter, such PSUs shall be prorated based on hire date.


The grants were issued pursuant to Power Integrations’ Amended and Restated 2025 Inducement Award Plan. The RSUs will vest annually over four years, subject to continued service through each applicable vesting date. The PSUs will vest based upon achievement of the company’s performance metrics for 2026, as determined by the talent and compensation committee of the company’s board of directors, up to a maximum of 200% of the target number of PSUs, as applicable, subject to continued service through December 31 of the applicable year. The grants are subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable RSU and PSU agreements and Power Integrations’ Amended and Restated 2025 Inducement Award Plan.

(Nasdaq: POWI) today announced that on February 2, 2026, it granted 64,487 restricted stock units (RSUs), 9,136 performance stock units (PSUs) and 42,992 long term performance stock units (PRSUs) at target to Nancy Erba, who began her employment as the company’s chief financial officer in January 2026. Additionally, on February 2, 2026, it granted 42,131 RSUs, 6,019 PSUs and 18,056 PRSUs at target to Chris Jacobs, who began his employment as the company’s senior vice president for marketing and product strategy in January 2026, and 19,346 PRSUs at target to Julie Currie, who began her employment as the company’s chief people and transformation officer in November 2025.

Power Integrations, Inc. designs, develops, manufactures, and markets high-voltage, analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits products (ICs). It offers both monolithic (a single chip in an IC package) and hybrid (multiple chips in a single package) IC products. It also offers a range of high-performance, high-voltage silicon diodes. Its ICs and diodes are used in electronic power supplies, also known as switched-mode power supplies or switchers. As of December 31, 2010, it offered IC products that can be used in alternating current-direct current (AC-DC) power supplies with output wattages ranging from less than one watt up to approximately 500 watts.
