PARIS--French luxury group Kering SA (KER.FR) Friday said it bought a minority stake in Altuzarra U.S.-based fashion brand created in 2008 by Franco-American designer Joseph Altuzarra.

The French company, which owns Gucci, didn't disclose what it paid or the size of its minority stake.

Kering--formerly known as PPR SA--recently said it is seeking to acquire new high-end luxury brands to boost sales and profits as its nonluxury businesses like sportswear maker Puma (PUM.XE) and Redcats struggle.
