I buy them when no one else wants them and wait. Most arent willing to be patient. But after hitting a few 10,000%ers over the years i realized patience pays. Doesnt matter if company in business or how crappy filing looks if the SS right or they do become active again they will get some kind of push from some group eventually. Sure the SEC suspends a few for no reason but the ones that do run, run big. I find them when they hit my bounce or volume filters.

Yes it does. But Omni, the holding company, may still have some non-bank subsidiaries, but it is not clear what they are and whether or not they worth anything and/or are still operating.

If you have any additional information, I'd be interested to know. My efforts to contact Stephen Klein several months ago failed.

Hmmm does that statement still hold true?

Yes and of course there are reasons. I got out when it popped a few times because there was no information I could find on Omni's other interests/subsidiaries. I did lots of research and even tried to contact the CEO, but no luck (instead talked to a nice attorney with the same name). The only thing I DO know as far as the bank goes is that they were auctioning off copiers and other bank equipment. So sad.

Unless they start talkin' the only thing you can hope for is a pop now and then for no reason. But I actually made a few bucks here, and consider myself lucky to have gotten out with a profit (quite a shock!).

OFSI is the holding company and just the bank got closed correct? This thing looks dirt cheap IMO...

Response to my email from a nice person at the FDIC:

"The holding company is not impacted by the closure of Omni National Bank. Omni Financial Services is under the Federal Reserve, while Omni National Bank was regulated by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency."

Indymac is a good example of that--it's had a few runs since the Feds took over.

Apparently, OFSI has "various non-bank" subsidiaries, one of which I think is a for-profit corporation, "Omni Community Development Corporation." I will try to find out what the others are.

CEO Klein is still holding shares that he bought in the $8-9.10 range--no sales at all over the past few years that I can find.

Looks like most of the other imploded banks still trade for a while. Probably worth more as a shell with such a small share structure lol. I'll get lifegear to do a Net Operating Loss analysis :)

Interesting comment from the Fed:

Omni...“incurred losses that have depleted most of its capital, and there is no reasonable prospect that the bank will become adequately capitalized without federal assistance.”

Is there any hope in that statement?

Atlanta's Omni National Bank becomes 21st failure of 2009

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Omni National Bank of Atlanta became the 21st bank to fail in 2009, after the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation said regulators closed the bank. SunTrust Bank of Atlanta will operate the six former branches of Omni National until April 27. Omni had assets of $956 million and total deposits of $796.8 million as of March 9. The failure marks the 46th bank to fail since the recession began.
