The Realities of the TRNC
In the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, everyone you talk to is in revolt… There are endless complaints and constant criticisms. The truth is, those making these criticisms are themselves beneficiaries of this system. There isn't a single person in the country who isn't a product of this system.
After 1974, the TRNC became a land of plunder; everyone was given houses and land, and some even went beyond just one house, buying summer residences. People who had no money in their pockets suddenly became wealthy in this country. Thousands of acres of land are being cultivated, even though this land was given to people who engaged in livestock farming after 1974.
Now, these same people are rebelling against the system and criticizing it, while unions are constantly complaining and taking to the streets. Look at the assets or houses of the union leaders; they almost always live in houses or own land inherited from the Greek Cypriots.

Look at the people who took loans from foundation banks or cooperatives; how many of them repaid their debts? People who haven't repaid their debts are now criticizing the system. There are mothers and fathers in this country who are revolting because one child became a civil servant but they couldn't get the other one a civil servant. Not a single person hasn't been patched up by this system. The country has reached a point where, because the number of patched-up individuals has decreased, people are now sitting behind keyboards making criticisms. Even the police chief in the TRNC was arrested for a fake diploma; a police chief sworn to maintain order, yet he obtained a fake diploma while he had been catching and prosecuting others for years.
I say this with sadness, but looking back years ago, lawyers, doctors, and hospitals were highly respected in our country. Now, even sick people don't want to go to the doctor. People know very well that even doctors have turned their profession into a business. In this situation, no one has the right to criticize. In our country, a former prime minister and speaker of parliament were imprisoned for allegedly issuing fake prescriptions. In short, who will criticize whom, or who has the right to criticize whom? The country has become a country of self-interest, the Ministry of Finance is constantly resorting to domestic borrowing, and the country is now suffocating.

This system has continued for years, leaving Turkish Cypriots as a society clinging to a snake in the sea, often being pushed into the snake's mouth by their own people.

However, when you look at those who are trying to smear them, you can see that they have all benefited from this system. The Cypriot people need to unite and work on how to overcome these events. Everyone should know that 30% of all aid and funds received by South Cyprus after 1974 belong to the Turkish Cypriots.
What the Minister of Finance should be doing now is not borrowing domestically, but going to loan sharks who provide loans to countries abroad and obtaining foreign loans. As collateral, he should offer the 30% that has rightfully belonged to the Turkish Cypriots in the Republic of Cyprus for years. If necessary, calculations should be made, and 75% should be obtained from foreign loan sharks, and by 2025, 100% of the Turkish Cypriot community's rightful share should be given as a grant.
