Eli Lilly and Co. said it has elected Kimberly Johnson, the operating chief of the Federal National Mortgage Association, as a board member, effective Tuesday.

The drugmaker said Ms. Johnson will serve on the compensation committee and the ethics and compliance committee.

"Kimberly brings a strong background in technology, governance and global risk management strategy, as well as significant financial experience," Chairman and Chief Executive David Ricks said.
