Here’s a fresh dive into the ExxonMobil–E3 Lithium connection, which is shaping up to be one of the more strategic alliances in North American lithium development: From copilot. ExxonMobil, Ive been watching E3 because of exxon mobil.
I was hoping IBATF was going to hook up with e3. IBATF is in Canada, which would have been nice. IBATF needs to move to the USA and stop being a forigen company, being a Canadian company in a Trump administration is not a goopd idea. Call Texas home.
The best thing for IBATF is to sell the patents to Exxon.
🔗 Partnership Overview
Imperial Oil, a subsidiary of ExxonMobil, holds a 4.3% equity stake in E3 Lithium and has invested C$6.4 million into the company.

The two are collaborating on the Clearwater Project in Alberta, Canada, which targets lithium extraction from oilfield brines using Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) technology.

🧪 Technology & Strategy
ExxonMobil is leveraging its subsurface expertise—from geoscience to chemical processing—to support lithium extraction from brines, a process similar to oil production.
The DLE method is expected to have ~2/3 less carbon intensity than traditional hard rock mining.
In the U.S., ExxonMobil is also developing a DLE project in the Smackover Formation in southern Arkansas, with first production targeted for 2027.

Today was a good day for Canada…

Having grown up in BC and Saskatchewan, I now call Alberta home. I am a proud Canadian.
Between the three events, two of them round table conversations, I met with Minister Timothy Hodgson and separately with Minister Brian Jean.
I left the day extremely positive, for critical minerals in Alberta, for E3 Lithium, but mostly for Canada!
More to come…

Yesterday we made hashtag#lithium carbonate “live” to showcase to our Alberta government colleagues how simple it is to make battery grade products right here. E3 Lithium’s process eliminates the need for refining or “professing” off our site; which is where the majority of of the challenges in onshoring lithium stem from. North America boasts very little refining capacity for lithium battery products, but building from brines simplifies the refining AND being in Alberta enables easy access to infrastructure enables this further.
Behind me are the reactors that will be deployed to the field as part of our demonstration facility this summer.
Thank you to everyone who came out from the AER, Alberta Energy and Minerals and the local calgary and Mountain View officials. Also, a special thanks to Emilie Bodoin, Prof, Donald Sadoway and Joe Lowry who made the trip up from the U.S.

#LithiumNews – E3 Lithium is pleased to announce it has secured a strategic brownfield site for its Clearwater Project’s Central Processing Facility. Located on the former Dyck Gravel Pit land in Mountain View County or the “County”, the site is well situated for infrastructure, including accessible utilities and roadways, to support E3 Lithium's development of the first commercial lithium facility in Western Canada.
The site is located adjacent to major power infrastructure and close to secondary highways and rail lines. As operations to produce lithium will be very similar to well-established energy industry operations, E3 Lithium is excited to engage Alberta’s skilled local workforce for drilling, construction and operations roles as the Company progresses the development of the Clearwater Project.

EV sales climb as market recovers
Although US EV sales figures for 2024 have come in below projections, the broader EV sector made large gains in September when global sales tallies topped 1.7 million units, setting a new monthly record.
According to data from Rho Motion, the banner month for EV sales represents a 22 percent year-to-date increase. Regionally, the Chinese market saw the most significant increase, with 1.1 million new EVs sold.
Most recently, Canada levied a 100 percent tariff on EV imports from the country, citing “unfair” trade policies. China responded quickly by filing a complaint with the World Trade Organization over the 100 percent EV tariffs, as well as Canada's 25 percent tariffs on aluminum and steel products from the Asian nation.
Although the EV tariffs are meant to protect Canadian automakers and the sector, they do little to address the nation’s supremacy in battery manufacturing, nor do they incentivize regional lithium production.
Also in August, E3 Lithium (TSXV:ETL,OTCQX:EEMMF) entered a joint development agreement with Pure Lithium to explore the design of a lithium metal anode and battery pilot plant in Alberta, Canada
