ReconAfrica has Commenced Production Testing at the Kavango West 1X Discovery

Highlights of the Production Test on Kavango Discovery:

Total of six optimized intervals, encompassing 420 m (1,378 ft.) of hydrocarbon bearing section to be isolated and tested across the Huttenburg and Elandshoek formations.

Huttenburg Formation:
75 m (246 ft.) of net hydrocarbon pay to be tested.
400 m (1,312 ft.) gross interval of high fractured carbonate reservoir.

Elandshoek Formation:
560 m (1,837 ft.) of hydrocarbon saturated section in highly fractured carbonate reservoirs.
81 m (265 ft.) of hydrocarbon fluorescence and oil shows.
Oil sheen and oil bubbles at surface in the mud pits.

Kavango West 1X – Production Testing Underway

Downhole production testing operations at KW1X have commenced. The cement bond log was conducted prior to the end of May confirming that production testing could proceed with no additional cement work. Downhole perforation work is currently underway, managed by SLB and Halliburton services, following the delivery of perforation equipment to site. While permitting requirements for the transportation of the downhole testing equipment from North America to the Kavango West 1X drill site experienced minor delays, ReconAfrica continues to target disclosure of production test results to all stakeholders by late July.

As previously stated, plans are to test six optimized zones of interest (three in the lower Elandshoek formation and three in the shallower Huttenburg formation) with each zone test lasting up to 10 days. Any flow of natural gas or liquids to surface will be flared at this testing stage. Following a successful production test, the KW1X well would be temporarily abandoned and available as a future producing well.

ReconAfrica continues to take the steps required to advance appraisal drilling locations on the Kavango discovery following the completion of the production test at KW1X. Preparations for the appraisal well are proceeding with specific permitting applications and site preparations underway for the Kavango West 2A (“KW2A”) appraisal well. We plan to spud this well before the end of the third quarter of this year pending final permitting and regulatory approvals.

The PSC is for the exploration, appraisal, development and production of oil and gas on Gabon offshore Block C-7, renamed Ngulu (“Ngulu”). Strategic Rationale: Pathway to a Full-Cycle, Offshore E&P Company

Entry terms are attractive for a large concession secured at a low-entry cost with a minimal work program over the initial four-year period. Ngulu Overview: Gulf of Mexico Style Exploration

The PSC agreement, which covers 1,214 Km2 and is roughly equivalent to 54 Gulf of Mexico blocks, is in shallow water offshore central Gabon. Ngulu block is located on trend and offset to several sizeable producing fields, which range in size from 38 MMBbl up to 250 MMBbl. The Company plans to apply state-of-the-art seismic reprocessing to the existing seismic dataset to identify additional prospects, as well as conduct an independent third-party resource report to outline the size and scope of the opportunities across the block.

The key aspects of the Ngulu Block include the Loba oil field discovery made by Elf-Gabon in 1976 and over 28 seismically identified prospects in the Pre-salt Gamba / Dentale and Post-salt plays. Marquee prospects on the block include Lepidote Deep (Post-salt play) and the Palomite Deep (Pre-salt play). All the prospects are similar to Gulf of Mexico play styles where several members of the current Recon management team have made numerous important discoveries, including 18 discoveries in the Gulf of Mexico made with a cumulative 2.4 billion boe.

Loba Oil Complex: Existing Development Offering Near-Term Production Potential

The Loba Field was discovered by Elf-Gabon’s LOM-1 well, which targeted the Batanga and Anguille reservoirs. The LOM-1 well discovered a shallow oil zone (27oAPI gravity oil) in the Batanga Formation with 140 metres of gross oil column (70 metres net pay) and is similar to nearby producing fields Barbier, Barbier Southwest and Ablette. The Loba oil discovery was made in 60 metres of water depth and is approximately 10 kilometres from existing infrastructure, operated by international oil company Perenco. Management believes that low-cost options are available for the development of the Loba Complex, which includes the initial Loba oil discovery and follow-on appraisal targets at Loba Deep and Loba East. Loba field complex has potential production of ~20,000 Bbls/d based on offset fields.(1)(2)(3) These analogous fields are located within 30-60 kilometres from the Loba Oil Complex and are in the same targeted reservoir.

High Impact Exploration Inventory

Approximately 28 prospects have been delineated on vintage seismic by prior operators, with estimated sizes consistent with offsetting producing fields ranging from 35 – 250 MMBbl. The Company expects to immediately commence a state-of-the-art seismic re-processing project to clearly identify prospects and develop a drilling inventory of lower-risk exploration targets from the enhanced dataset. The Company will also initiate a third-party resource assessment using the newly enhanced, reprocessed seismic data.

Lepidote Deep - Azile Channel Complex

The Lepidote Deep prospect (Post-salt) has multiple stacked turbidite channels that can be tested from a single well targeting an estimated 800 metres of gross interval stacked sands. An initial Lepidote 1 well was drilled in the 1970’s on sparse 2D data with the well encountering strong oil shows but did not drill deep enough to penetrate the deeper prospective intervals. Similar to the Loba Oil Complex, the Lepidote Deep prospect benefits from its proximity to established infrastructure with available capacity, supporting a potential cost-efficient development pathway.

Record Resources targets 5,000-Barrel-Per-Day well at Gabon’s Loba Oil discovery

Record Resources COO Alain Mizelle joined Steve Darling from Proactive to provide an update on the company’s offshore oil development plans in Gabon, highlighting encouraging geological and geophysical studies that suggest the first production well at the Loba oil discovery could deliver initial production rates exceeding 5,000 barrels of oil per day.

Mizelle explained that recent technical evaluations of the Loba discovery, combined with analysis of nearby producing analogue fields, continue to strengthen confidence in the project’s development potential. The company’s planned Loba Marine 2 well is targeting the highly prospective Batanga reservoir and is expected to achieve production rates above 5,000 barrels per day if completed with modern production technologies, including a frac-pack completion and an electric submersible pump (ESP).

The production forecast is supported by performance data from the nearby Barbier Southwest field, which was originally identified by the company in 2017 as a highly attractive development opportunity. Located adjacent to Record Resources’ Ngulu Block and now operated by Perenco, the Barbier Southwest field has recently entered production and serves as an important analogue for the Loba development because it produces from the same Batanga reservoir system.

According to Mizelle, the broader Loba field complex offers considerably larger production potential beyond the initial well. Based on data from nearby offset fields and comparable multi-well developments, management believes the Loba complex could ultimately support production of approximately 20,000 barrels of oil per day. Several analogous wells drilled within 40 kilometres of the Loba discovery have delivered initial production rates as high as 7,600 barrels per day from single completions within the same reservoir interval.

The Loba field complex encompasses multiple development opportunities, including the existing Loba oil discovery in the Batanga reservoir, the deeper Loba Deep prospect targeting the Anguille formation, and the Loba East Batanga prospect located on the eastern flank of the salt dome structure. Together, these targets provide the potential for a broader field development program that could significantly expand recoverable resources and future production capacity.

Flow test this......feet of pay that......but never any results other than a duster. Those big salaries continue to get paid though..... Do you get the strategy yet?

The majors are nearby but off shore. Everyone knows it's way more expensive to operate off shore. If the majors wanted oil from that region, and it was on shore, they would already be there. This is all BS.

Communications from IR changed from oil to hydrocarbons years ago. I wonder why? Yeah...so if they run into a little natural gas during drilling, and that is common, they are covered then. But all those big salaries keep getting paid though.

On Balance Volume indicator (OBV) is bullish.

The slope of the indicator is positive and suggests that buyers are presently more active than sellers.

THE National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (NAMCOR), through its upstream subsidiary NAMCOR Exploration and Production (Pty) Ltd, has welcomed the commencement of production testing operations at the Kavango West-1X discovery well in PEL 73, onshore Namibia.

PEL 73 is operated by ReconAfrica (70%), alongside partners BW Kudu (20%) and NAMCOR E&P (10%), reflecting a strategic joint venture aimed at unlocking Namibia’s hydrocarbon potential in the onshore Kavango Basin. All required regulatory approvals have been secured, and operations are now underway, with work crews on site preparing the well for testing.

The Kavango West-1X well has shown encouraging technical data to date. Updated petrophysical analysis indicates approximately 75 metres of net hydrocarbon pay within the Huttenberg Formation, an increase from earlier estimates. Production testing will be conducted across six targeted zones, spanning both the Huttenberg and deeper Elandshoek formations, with a total prospective interval of approximately 345 metres to be tested.

Paulo Coelho, NAMCOR spokesperson, said that the production testing activities are expected to continue through the second quarter of 2026, with results to be released as operations progress, in line with standard industry practice.

In the beginning, it was oil. For the past few years, it's hydrocarbons. They can be anything of any quantity. Buyer beware.

Yes... I picked up a some more too. I'm think anything under .70 is good odds. All we need is a successful flow test, and they seem very confident in that. Looks to be a supergiant, they just can't come out and say that yet. The dilution is scarring some folks off but now they have the cash to flow test and drill an appraisal well. Then there is Gabon too...

Well, this pullback sucks, but it has given me an opportunity to buy a few more cheap shares. There is still a lot of speculation with RECAF and of course a lot of FUD going around. I've made up my mind to hang tough with this one because the risk/reward is just too great not to. Best of luck to us all.

Yeah, I agree because so many times a poison pill clause is written to protect management who are doing a poor job. But in RECAF's case I think it's for the right reasons that being to keep a hostile takeover or lowball buyout from occurring. If we have hit the motherload we would be in the crosshairs of a lot of cash rich major players who would be foaming at the mouth to do a takeover on the cheap.
